I ordered CHV9600 9.6-Volt Cyclonic DustBuster (sold from Aubuchon) and they sent me this instead.

I love it! I don't know if the other one would be better but it doesn't matter. This one does it's job and then some. It holds a charge long enough to take me through 5 rooms and the cellar stairs and picks up cat hair without a problem. It has very good suction and I like the extendable arm.

Aubuchon refunded me for the mistake and let me keep this one anyway. The best mistake someone has ever made for me!

With 3 cats, this has turned out to be perfect for sucking the hairballs out of the corners and from under the furniture. It's far more powerful than I would have believed and it's so easy to clean. It was a great investment and I find that I use it all the time. Great value!

I was debating between this model and the higher voltage models that Black & Decker has, but I've found this one to be quite powerful and to provide more than enough suction power for my wood floors.

Underwhelmed by the selection of hand-held cordless vacuums at my local big-box store, I turned to Amazon and sifted through seemingly dozens of different options. I finally settled on this particular Black & Decker Dustbuster model (CHV9608), even though I'm not a huge fan of the color red, and am happy I did.

Pros:
-Compact
-Quiet
-Sleek design
-Effective at picking up dust, dirt, hair, fuzzballs, and small debris
-Suction lasts long enough to clean my car or touch up my apartment
-Easy-to-empty dustbin

Cons:
-Filter clogs quickly
-Filter requires a bit of effort to clean without getting hands dirty
-Difficult to remove upholstery brush from holder on vacuum body
-Seems to need recharging a bit too often

Overall, I'm happy with this vacuum. I have hardwood floors in my apartment and cloth seats in my car, and I simply wouldn't keep either sufficiently clean without it! I'll note here that my vacuum was shipped new but had a large blue mark on it, but it wasn't large enough for me to bother exchanging it. Recommended!

Very good addition to the garage wall next to the kitchen. Picks up the dust and crumbs instead of using a dust pan. Charger keeps it ready at all times.

Suggestion, to aid in cleaning the filter (once a week r as needed):
get a cheap small paint brush, cut off about a third of the bristles, and use it to brush the filter-- works better than just shaking it and bumping it. Do this outside over the garbage can or in the yard to avoid dust in the house.

Good product. Have used it now for about three months.

this one burnt out on me within 6 months. i've been through 3 black & decker hand vacs in less that 2 years of moderate use... giving up & trying another brand

I am on my third Dust Buster, not because they failed me, but I ran over my first one with the car when i backed it up while cleaning my car, the second one my husband wanted to clean it out, and just like a guy, did not know there were two parts to the filter system and he threw one out. So I immediately sent him to get me a new one. I now have a DB 14.4 volt and love that one even better. I never used the wet part on my old one so this is fine. I love the extension, and it takes up my dog hair and the crumbs in the kitchen, I also just turn my toaster upside down and suck up all the crumbs from the counter. I even set it to low, another wonderful new feature for me, and suck out the USB and card ports on my PC and also the keyboard. Love it love it love it.

I bought this to clean up a few small dusty and relatively inaccessable areas in my office i.e. behind my desk and computer, etc. It will pick up dust bunnies (barely), but any surface dust will be left behind. Don't bother with the white glove test after using this vacuum cleaner. The suction on this unit is so poor that when I tried to vacuum up some rice cakes crumbs it couldn't remove a single one from the floor. NOT ONE!!! We're not talking ball bearings here folks - rice cake crumbs. Another "nice" feature is that when you tilt the unit down when the motor is off, any dust that it did somehow manage to pick up invariably spills out the front nozzle. Think of it as a dust "leaf blower" - moves some dust around, but when all is said and done, it's still there. Advice? Buy a corded hand vacuum unit. I did, and the corded unit cost essentially the same as this one.

We all make mistakes and mine was not trying this unit out right away and returning it within the time allowed. This is my third and final black and decker vacuum. They all wither and die, and this one although not dead yet, is the worst of the bunch. Very low power even when left plugged in to charge. The extension nozzle (or 'accureach' as they call it, gets readily clogged at the slightest provocation. But the main complaint is the lack of suction power and low motor speed. It is a real pain to clean out the nozzel when it gets clogged; you end up with more dust and dirt on your body than what is left in the unit. Poop comes in all colours; in this case, red and white. I used it for about 2 months, cleaning and charging it regularly. Then it started losing suction. By three months time, it had lost almost all suction and would only pick up dry cheerios off the wood floor, so I finally threw it out.
