The Black & Decker CI500S dual-temperature soldering and craft iron offers temperatures of either 500 or 900 degrees, making it versatile enough to use on wood, metal, wire, fabrics, ceramics, and other materials. Seven interchangeable tips -- including soldering, universal, round, teardrop, tapered, hot knife, and mini-iron -- perform a variety of tasks. On the iron, an indicator displays a red color for high temperatures and yellow for low temperatures. The soldering and craft iron kit includes a cooling stand with a storage drawer for the tips, third-hand grippers, and a sponge. Black & Decker backs its iron with a full 2-year warranty.

This maybe suited best for arts and crafts projects with all its different attachment tips, but if you want to solder electrical parts, forget it. The soldering tip never gets hot enough for quality work. Better to spend the extra money and get a real soldering iron that works.

I wanted to get a btter soldering iron to take care of a few loose ends. I saw this in my search and thought that I could use it for some crafts as well. On my first use a tip broke in the iron. I sent it out for repair and am waiting on a replacement.

With the Hot Knife tools, the dual power selectibility and the excellent base station with holding clamps, this is excellent for use in my R/C Airplane hobby.
