The Digital Advantage countertop oven from Black & Decker cooks everything from toast to turkey, using electronic controls and fuss-free construction to keep operation simple. With its .65 cubic foot capacity, the oven can be used to toast, bake, broil, brown, defrost, or reheat, saving you the preheat time and energy usage of a standard oven. Digital controls allow for precise temperature and time programming, and all parts of the electronic touchpad are clear and plainly marked. Other useful features include a setting for bagels, automatic 90-minute shut-off, and a signal bell for when food is finished cooking. The oven's LCD monitor shows time, cooking time, and temperature, which can be set to the Fahrenheit or the Celsius scale.
Helpful structural elements of the oven include the stay-cool ThermaGuard exterior and the easy-clean, nonstick interior. This toaster oven replaces my older B&D that had the same interior dimensions. It's not easy to find one that is wide enough to accommodate large Pyrex dishes (9x13 w/handles). Many toaster ovens will fit 6 slices, but they usually aren't wide enough for oblong Pyrex dishes. The CTO 8500 is perfect for those dishes. I seldom use my conventional oven (the one that comes w/the stove), but instead use the CTO 8500, because it can handle both small and bigger jobs, from warming up bread at breakfast, to baking a coffee cake for mid afternoon, and a lasagna for dinner. It took me a while to learn how to use the digital controls, but I got them eventually. I love my new oven!

I bought this oven almost a year ago and have used it daily since for almost every meal. It's big enough and it's small enough. My big oven is now pretty much a storage facility for pans and pots. (Ok it's still used for the turkey roast.)
The settings took some getting used to,initially. By now, I wouldn't know what to do without that oven. I hope B&D keeps making this type so that I can get one just like it whenever this "retires" - hopefully, not anytime soon.

This toaster oven is just what I had been looking for. It is spacious enough to bake a whole chicken as well as a pan of lasagna or baked ziti. And it is backed by the brand of Black & Decker which is always a plus. My previous toaster oven was also a B&D only smaller. It lasted me 9 years. I am very pleased with my purchase!
