5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST if Traveling with an Electric Cooler.
This is a must have if traveling with a 12V Thermoelectric Cooler, or any 12 volt appliance that you will need when out of your vehicle. That could be for a overnight motel stay or for an extended stay without a direct 12V power source. All you need is a 110 volt wall outlet.

I have used this use this on my Koolatron Voyager Thermoelectric Cooler - P-27 as...

1.0 out of 5 stars They said may cause interference?
The interference is understated for sure. I put it on its own plug and STILL....you name it and it interfered with it from my hdtv to radio etc: Then moved it 2 rooms away in bath area and STILL interfered with everything withen 1000 feet. They said in their insert that it may cause problems with surrounding EQ. They meant to say it WILL mess with all EQ in area. I got...

This is a must have if traveling with a 12V Thermoelectric Cooler, or any 12 volt appliance that you will need when out of your vehicle. That could be for a overnight motel stay or for an extended stay without a direct 12V power source. All you need is a 110 volt wall outlet.

I have used this use this on my Koolatron Voyager Thermoelectric Cooler - P-27 as well as my B & D cooler for quite a few years now with no problems.

This converter is compatible with B&D cooler's, but will also work well with most other coolers and 12V appliances provided they don't have over a 6 amp power draw, " Most are under 6 amp ". This works well for pre cooling your cooler before putting it in your vehicle. It also has a green LED light to let you know it is on.

The Converter will get quite warm when in use this is normal, all converters do it. When you buy a converter make sure it is 6 Amp, much less than that probably won't work on some larger appliances.

NOTE** The photo Amazon is showing is NOT the B&G CV6B converter. Check out my photo on customer image on the product page. Thanx

4.0 out of 5 stars great converter, September 3, 2009

I used this converter to power a Koolatron cooler almost every night for two weeks of a road trip. It kept the cooler working in the hotel rooms. I did notice that it would get fairly warm during the process though, so I took extra pains to set it on smooth surfaces such as a table or on smooth flooring. That extra precautions is why it only received 4 stars instead of 5.

This adapter provides the power for their thermoelectric cooler. It does the job adequately and is quite useful for getting the cooler cooled down prior to travel. An excellent product.

Black & Decker either bought the "Vector" product and rebranded it, or something like that. So apparently the B&D-CV6B and the Vector one are the same thing.

This product works great for powering my motorcycle tire pump, and my Air Mattress inflator. I had a cheap one that was 3A and it would blow a fuse every time, but this one works without a problem.

I didn't search that hard on the product, but I did notice that their isn't any obvious place to replace a fuse or reset a breaker? Maybe it is one of those kinds that resets automatically when you unplug it and then plug it back in? But I sure hope I don't accidentally "break" it by over-drawing current and then end up with a brick.

I purchased this to use with a 12V floor jack that is designed to plug into a car's cigarette lighter socket. I needed something with enough current to power the jack which I use to lift my car to change/rotate tires. I use this in my garage plugged into the wall outlet in order to avoid draining the car's battery. This unit gets warm when it's in use but not hot. It has a lot of vents on the case to allow heat out and also a green power LED and very long power cord. If you have a 12V device that can only be plugged into a car's lighter socket, this product will come in handy. One last point, this product could also be used as a general 12V power source which in my case means I could power my DC battery charger with it. It allows me to use my Turnigy Accucel-6 RC battery charger at home through the wall outlet. You will need a lighter plug to banana plug or alligator clip adapter though.

This review is from: Black & Decker CV6B / Vector VEC004 / Travel Mate / Rubbermaid / 6.0 Amp AC/DC Converter (Lawn & Patio)
We used this on and off throughout a 6 month road trip with a 12v Koolatron Cooler. It would get warm, but never "hot". Solid build. Zero complaints.

I always use a Koolatron portable cooler for work and it gets plugged in on Thursday and runs continuously throughout the weekend until Monday morning when I head home. As per Koolatron I didn't want to void my warranty and I used their portable AC/DC Converter. It ended up working through the year of my warranty period and I had problems with it throughout the last half of the year. Mainly the problems with the Koolatron Converter (Model AC-15) is that thing would heat up in a bad way. It would get so hot that it actually started to melt my plug that my cooler used to plug into the converter. It melted the tip and surrounding plastic. I guess I ended up getting lucky. A week after the warranty period expired on the Koolatron AC/DC converter, it ended up just dying, but then I finally grew a brain and bought this product. Ever since I bought the Vector (aka Black and Decker) brand of AC/DC converter I have not had any problems at all. I love this thing. It works fantastically. The product itself gets warm, but not nearly as hot as the Koolatron product did. Even when it is plugged in all weekend, I can unplug the cooler from it and immediately touch the metal contacts, for the plug, and they are cool to the touch, not hot at all. Unlike when I used the Koolatron converter I burned myself a couple of times on the contacts. Do yourself a favor and purchase this product instead of the Koolatron AC/DC converter. It works much better, much cooler, and has that extra amp of support so you can run more products on this one.

I bought this converter mainly to power my XM radio adapter so I could use it in the house or on my portable "boom box". This converter seems to be well built and solid. seems plenty capable of powering most anything needing 12 volts. Would recommend to anyone.
