I bought this handheld vac for our "den" that has the hamster cage and fish tank - After getting worn out by pulling my big vaccuum out everyday to clean up the mess the hamster would make every night.

I was very attracted by the price ... and after using it I was attracted by the features. The crevice tool makes it easy to get into the grooves around the baseboards..under furniture and in small places. It's also perfect for my washer/dryer room (which my dryer makes a bit of a mess also:0) The fact that it's cordless makes it even easier - it's small enough to put in a convenient place and not have to lug out the big vaccuum for small messes. It's perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, etc.

The 4.8 Volts may not be the strongest volt you can have on a cordless vac - but it is strong enough for this handheld vac. I've not had a problem with it picking up - it's got good suction - I'm not disappointed at all.

I grew up with my Mother owning a Dust Buster - she used it every day for years!!! She only replaced it because of the upgraded features. My experience with the Black & Decker Dust Busters is that they are reliable, sturdy and will last for years to come!

You won't be disappointed with the quality, price or performace of this wet/dry handheld vac (and I should also add cordless).

I was attracted to this item because you always need something like this for small jobs around the house, and the price is great. But when it arrived in the mail, I read the instruction manual and it said that the rechargeable battery pack, once fully dead, is not replaceable. I didn't see any info on replacing the batteries, only recycling, so I called Black and Decker. They confirmed that the typical battery life is about 3 years, after which you just throw the ENTIRE UNIT away. Nowhere in the product description online does it say anything about this, just that one short sentence in the manual stating that the batteries are irreplaceable. If you're as incredulous as I was, call them and ask for yourself: (800) 544-6986.

I guess that's why this item is discontinued, and I've just returned mine to Amazon, who should have added this info to the product description. Anyway, it's terrible for the environment, and I wonder what on earth Black and Decker was thinking when they came up with this one.

I bought this to clean up after my bird and I love it! The suction level is not super high, but this is good for my needs as a higher suction would rip my rugs up. This model does not have a brush and is not intended to remove stains or ground in stuff. It's just for spills and messes. I use it strictly to pick up little bits of bird food scattered under his playpen and shreds of paper. It also does a dandy job to get up cat hair from the couch. I was surprised at the size of some of the items it picked up. The wet feature makes it safe for sucking up bits of fruit and other wet messes like bird poo. I love the little filter in there, as it cleans the air before blowing it back out. (Huge plus for a bird owner.) It empties easily once you figure out that you must remove the filter THEN the cup. The charge lasts long enough for me to clean all around the cage, pen, and 3 couches. One thing I will warn is that it looks like there is more room when it is in fact full, so if you notice it's not sucking, empty it. I think I got my money's worth. It was misery cleaning up after my bird before I got it!

I love my wet/dry vac. does a wonderful job, but i must add a WARNING: If you see the filters buy them right away. I have been looking for over a month for the filters no one carries them. I have checked the company sight and could not get into the online ordering area, and all the stores listed as carriers of the filter do not have them and many said they have never carried them.The wet dry vac is great if only I could use it again.

This hand-held vac is great. I was really surprised how well it worked for the price. I've been using it for a few weeks and have had no problems. I have not used it for wet spills. But it does great for dry. As far as filters go, I have seen them available all over the place for a few dollars. But I have just removed the filter in mine and tapped it clean. I think that will help it last longer between changes.

This vacuum is good for small spills in the kitchen or bathroom. It is NOT, I repeat not a shop vac. If that is what you expect to use it for, buy a shop vac!

I received this vacuum as a wedding gift (I registered for it and everything). It's a handy little vacuum, and it's always in easy reach. That's one of the things I really liked about this vacuum. It's charging mount (being cordless) is wall mountable. I don't even have to provide my own screws.

You can put this on the wall in the kitchen somewhere out of the way (but within 6 ft of an outlet) and it will be ready the instant you drop the half empty milk carton or the carton of eggs. Its receptacle is plastic, and so even eggs wash out pretty easily. All told, I really like this cordless hand vac.

*****Final Thoughts*****
This is a good vacuum to have ready in case of a quick clean-up need. However it does not provide either the suction nor the volume of a standard wet/dry shop vac. I've seen other reviewer complaints regarding suction and think to myself, "What did you expect from a battery powered hand vac?"

Like many of the other comments, I have found it challenging to find the proper replacement filters for my Black and Decker 4.8 volt wet/dry handheld vac (model # CWV4830). I called Black and Decker and received the following part number 499739-00. Although I ordered the filters directly through Black and Decker (only 2.19/filter), I went to google, did a search on the item number and found several matches. Although I have not received the product yet, I do know they are the right filters because I saw a picture of them on another (more expensive) website.

We bought this product as a roach-picker-upper. We were tired of using paper towels to pick up bugs. It works GREAT. Also works great for sand, dirt, sugar spills, vacuuming drawers, and even water. It was a GREAT value for the price $20 becausee it's wet/dry and its battery life is good. The filter tends to get a lot of junk in it, and some stuff can get lodged in the end of the vac, requiring some banging to dislodge, but otherwoise, no complaints.

I am very happy with this vacuum in the beginning, however, I could not find the replacement filter easily. Now I do not want to use this vacuum. Without a new filter, it does not do its job right and become a piece of junk. Before purchasing this item, make sure you will be able to find the filter in the nearby store, it costs six dollars and needs to replace every other month to achieve good performance

can't even find a filter at B&D online tonight, unless the replacements don't look the same!

Other than that, it works great for what I bought it for. I only have one carpet left and this works wonders on the cat hairs that gather in the corners.
