Book Description

Black & Decker Complete Guide May 15, 2007
Complete planning & remodeling information for both attics and basements

Black & Decker The Complete Guide to Attics & Basements is the perfect book for homeowners who need more living space but aren't able or willing to move to a larger home or build an expensive room addition. More than 75% of homes have unfinished space in an attic or basement, just waiting for a creative touch, and this book will show readers how to convert that territory into practical living space. Armed with this book, homeowners will be able to add a bedroom, bathroom, recreation room, or home office without changing the basic blueprint of the home.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Is your house too small? Why not tap into the unused space of your attic and basement before shopping for a larger one? Schmidt (Finishing Basements & Attics) and Paymar (IdeaWise: Basements & Attics) have produced an excellent book showcasing the potential of attics and basements. Before delving deeper into renovation projects, the authors first cover planning and evaluation of the space and highlight potential problems. All possible aspects of finishing are covered, including special projects such as adding a wet bar or radiant heating. Very clear instruction and good step-by-step illustrations round out the guide. Highly recommended for all collections. --Library Journal, June 1, 2007

The book I ordered came in quickly and I am happy with this purchase. I am a Contruction Tech College student and this book shows a lot of great detail in the process of redoing or finishing the basement or attic. It actually gives good detailed step-by-step processes of different projects. If you plan on doing any of your own work I would look into this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Complete- in 2 pages or less, December 22, 2007
This review is from: Black & Decker The Complete Guide to Attics & Basements (Black & Decker Complete Guide) (Paperback)
I picked this up in hopes of having a single source of info on the many projects associated with finishing a basement and attic/bonus room. While I did refer to it several times, I was never able to gather much information from this book as each topic receives so little attention (there are only ~150 pages devoted to the actual "work", the first 83 pages are pretty pictures).

For details you will need to look elsewhere.
