This iron died on me after about six months -- apparently something wrong with the digital chip, as the display shows "error", and the iron doesn't heat up. Black & Decker customer service is not too interested in helping unless you save your receipt. I must say, I am not in the habit of saving my receipts for every $30-40 purchase I make. My mistake, I guess, but I will not be buying another Black & Decker product anytime soon!

This is a good iron. It was a replacement for a former iron.It heats up quickly and has enough steam. It also has a non-stick coating which is great.

cord wore out inside,

I have had this iron for a few years. They certainly don't make them like they used to.... I liked this iron a lot and would still be using it but where the cord enters the handle, the wires have lost/broke their connections. I had to fiddle with it just to finish my last few articles. I have been trying to get a screwdriver to fix it myself but we'll see how helpful B&D is at getting me one. I know it is cheaper to just go buy a new one... but it is hard to find one that pleases me. This one didn't spit water and leave spots or calcium chunks, it didn't get sticky/mucky with buildup. It gave good steam, It adjusted the temp fast from one fabric to another.

The iron is excellent when it works, what can I say. The second one, which was a warranty replacement, just broke showing an "err" message and no heat, same as the last one. The first one made it perhaps three months, this one did not fare so well, failed at just about a month old. Going back to the Black and Decker store again, this time hopefully for a refund.Update- Returned this model without a problem, something B and D is good about. New iron is in the closet as a spare since I had already purchased another brand (which has functioned flawlessly for months). Still recommend staying away from this iron. |
