5.0 out of 5 stars I adore this coffee maker!!!
I've had one of these Brew-N-Go's for two years and I just adore it. My mother broke my first one while visiting (it's a gift she has with appliances) and even though I loved this one I decided to try a Cuisinart brand that makes two cups. I absolutely hate that thing! So, I went out and bought another Brew-N-Go but they only had the one with the metal cup (I can't put...

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent, but messy.
The coffee made by this was fine, but the "no buying filters" angle basically means it has a filter in it that must be washed out. Hence, it's a pain to clean. I've switched to an old garage sale Mr. Coffee maker with paper filters and am now thoroughly happy. Fine for a single-cup-swilling person who doesn't mind cleaning a filter (it's worse than it sounds-...

5.0 out of 5 stars I adore this coffee maker!!!, May 9, 2004
This review is from: Black & Decker DCM18X Brew 'N Go Coffeemaker with Bonus Mug (Kitchen)
I've had one of these Brew-N-Go's for two years and I just adore it. My mother broke my first one while visiting (it's a gift she has with appliances) and even though I loved this one I decided to try a Cuisinart brand that makes two cups. I absolutely hate that thing! So, I went out and bought another Brew-N-Go but they only had the one with the metal cup (I can't put that in the microwave) but I bought it anyway since I could use the cup I got with the first one and regular cups when I'm staying at home. I ended up taking this one to work and I've been dealing with the dreaded Cuisinart one on the weekends. Now I'm buying my 3rd Brew-N-Go for sanity's sake and my husband can have the other evil machine (I bet we throw it away). Why do I love this one so much?
1. Permanent filter (never having to remember to buy filters!)
2. When you lift the lid up to make another cup of coffee, water from the steam from the previous cup doesn't drip down the outside of the coffee maker leaving a puddle under the maker. (the Cuisinart one does)
3. Left hand friendly!!!!!
4. You don't have to use a special brand of coffee or a special coffee pod though you could use one if you wished.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mighty Mouse of Coffee Makers!, September 16, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Black & Decker DCM18X Brew 'N Go Coffeemaker with Bonus Mug (Kitchen)
This is a great little machine. It makes a HOT cup of coffee quickly and efficiently. You don't have to make two or three cups and leave them in the pot to greet you when you return from work in the evening. I just put a little milk in the bottom of the cup [you could add sugar if you want] and the coffee pours into the mug and stirs itself! It truly is a Brew 'N' Go! It is made of plastic so you have to treat it with care. I dropped mine and the lid broke - which is why I'm buying another.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mine is 8 years old, used 3-4x a day, and is working fine., May 7, 2004

What could be wrong with a fresh cup of coffee with every cup? No one in my office makes it twice the same way in the big machine, so I just make my own.

For those of you that don't like having to clean the filter - Duh!
Try putting a paper filter in it. I buy the #2 filters and fold them twice. I also often make two cups before changing the filter. #1 filters work, but are too small to use twice.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love this product, BUT, May 7, 2004
This review is from: Black & Decker DCM18X Brew 'N Go Coffeemaker with Bonus Mug (Kitchen)
I'm on my second in ten years...
It's the fastest way to an ultra fresh cup of coffee.
I could care less about the "go" part - they should sell it cheaper without the stupid mugs.
BUT WHERE THE HECK DO YOU GET SPARE FILTERS ON THE WEB?!?!??!?! ARGH.

This coffeemaker is perfect for me. I'm the only coffee drinker in my house (alas!), so my 12-cup machine was impractical. This smaller machine is just wonderful - and so much cheaper than the new pod machines. No more wasted coffee, no more paper filters - wonderful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't live without it!, November 30, 2004
This review is from: Black & Decker DCM18X Brew 'N Go Coffeemaker with Bonus Mug (Kitchen)
My husband is the only coffee drinker in my family and I hated wasting coffee and filters for his 1 cup each morning. Plus having to wash both the pot and cup was a hassel. With Brew n Go there are no filters and he washes out his cup and is ready to go again. I bought one for my father (also the only coffee drinker in his house) and he loves it. Now I'm buying one for my brother. We've had ours for over 2 years and use it daily and so far no problems; but even if it goes out I figure at it's low price, I can buy another. It's great!

4.0 out of 5 stars Thermal Mug, December 5, 2004
This review is from: Black & Decker DCM18X Brew 'N Go Coffeemaker with Bonus Mug (Kitchen)
I love the brew and go and i have had it for two yrs. Just recently though the thermal mug was giving me problems. The insulation seperated from the mug itself and i cannot put it back together. I wish there was a way just to get the mug.

2.0 out of 5 stars Keep a Sponge Handy, December 10, 2006
It's staggering to me just how hit or miss designing a coffee maker must be. I've purchased ones over $100 that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy and I've purchased $20 units that make a perfect cup. This unit , unfortunately, belongs in the former category.

First, condensation forms on the inside lid, migrates to the lip that overhangs outside the unit and then proceeds to leak all over the counter. The amount of water is considerable and possibly a fire hazard due to it getting the electrical cord wet. I have found folding a paper towel and putting it underneath helps angle the unit backwards so the drips stay towards the center. Secondly, there is a flotation plug inside the water reservoir that is supposed to stop minor drips from keeping the power on. this plug fell out while cleaning and it wasn't until later did i realize how necessary it was to the proper functioning of this thing. At the end of brew cycle no more water is being pumped but drops leaking into the evaporation chamber keeps the power on and making noises like water dripping on a hot grill. Trust me when I say its annoying as hell.

On the plus side it DOES make a decent cup once its broken in properly. Follow the directions for cleaning it before you make your first cup and you'll be fine. The temp may be a bit on the low side for some but if you pre heat the mug with hot water it will help. The mug is extremely sturdy having weathered serious abuse from this building contractor.

I've owned this for 2 years so B&D may have tweaked the design since to address the issues I brought up. B&D certainly makes a good full-sized coffee maker (certainly better than the garbage from Mr. Coffee) so theres a good chance this has been done.
