2.0 out of 5 stars Dribble Carafe, June 19, 2008
By
Purchased to replace a Mr. Coffee that finally gave up the ghost. Had comparable features like auto brew timer and auto shut off. Will be replacing it soon with another Mr Coffee. When you pour the first and second cups you can expect to make a mess with the dribble carafe. It is difficult to fill the coffee maker with water without making another mess. I dont know why they added a splash bar across the fill area but it does make filling it with water a challenge. On the positive side the brew timer and suto shut off work well and it makes coffee as you would expect. The big down side is that useability is lacking.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stay away from this one, June 14, 2008

This review is from: Black&Decker DCM2900W B&D 12 CUP COFFEEMAKER PRGRMBL. LCD DISPLAY
I have had this coffee maker for about a month. I thought the longer I had it, the easier it would be to pour coffee into a cup or water into the maker without making a mess on the counter top. I was wrong. I am going to return this one and get one of the 'real' Smartbrew Black & Decker coffee makers. This one is not a 'Smartbrew' model. The Smartbrew models have what B&D calls a Perfect Pour spout. These carafes are a breeze to pour. No dribbles, ever. Why they don't use the nicer carafe on all their models is a mystery to me. I have had a non-programmable B&D Smartbrew coffee maker at my camper for 7 years. It makes way better coffee than this one and the carafe is way better.

We bought this coffee maker 2 days ago and it's now in the trash can! Shame on your Black and Decker! The water resevior makes it IMPOSSIBLE to fill without spilling half of it all over the counter with the ground basket guide in the way. The digital timer/clock is hard to see with grey on grey and ever harder to set for delay brewing. Twice this morning it backed up and overflowed because the "Sneak a Cup" does not allow it to flow into the pot, you have to hold it up at the bottom of the basket to get it to flow right, filling with water it leaks onto the hot plate and gets the grounds wet, mind you this is with the coffee pot off! It is painfully slow to even brew the coffee. Lastly, they took away the select a brew, we like stronger coffee and this is weak and tasteless even with 7 scoops of coffee, so on top of everything else it's a money waster having to use more coffee. Pass this up even if it's the only one offered! Again, SHAME on you Black and Decker!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Coffee Maker EVER, November 23, 2008

Thankfully I didn't spend my own money on this coffee maker as it was purchased by the receptionist at my office, because if I had, I would have gone back the very same day it was unpacked.

First off, the carafe is impossible to pour without spilling water/coffee everywhere, esp. with a full pot. Try as I may, the minute you start pouring, the bulk of the liquid starts running down the side of the pot as opposed to in the cup.

Second, and most importantly, the coffee from this device tastes like absolute garbage. The same coffee I use at home in my Cuisinart that tastes wonderful is somehow transformed into bitter-tasting black sludge in the B&D model. Granted, I don't expect miracles here, but it should at least be drinkable.

Bottom line: don't waste your money on this piece of crap. Anything has to be better than this.
