Clock problems...,
By David Edwards (The midwestern USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black & Decker DE755B 12-Cup Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
Right from the beginning we had a problem. The first night we set the clock to the correct time and then programmed the machine to start brewing at 5:30am the next morning. When I checked the machine at 5:30 am the brewing had not started because the clock now read 1:30am......ok, so maybe it got bumped. One design problem is it's REALLY easy to bump the clock buttons.....BUT it would have had to have been bumped 20 times! So I reset the clock and pushed the on button to start brewing right away.....no big deal. That afternoon at about 3:30pm I decided to go program the machine to brew a pot about 4pm or so, but once again I find the clock is EXACTLY 4 hours behind.....AGAIN.
Long story short, don't trust the clock which also means it is useless to program the machine and expect a steaming pot of coffee when you wake up.

Worked great...then died! :(,
This review is from: Black & Decker DE755B 12-Cup Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
For 5 months, this was one of the best coffee makers I ever owned. It has a large opening to the reservoir so no annoying spilling as you're trying to fill it, it's programmable with a nicely visible clock that kept perfect time, and it brewed very quickly. Then the honeymoon ended. :(
After 5 1/2 months of light use (one pot, every other day or so), it just suddenly stopped heating today. The clock still works fine, so it's getting power, just won't heat at all. I will try contacting Black & Decker (with crossed fingers) for a replacement and hope this was a fluke, but after being so pleased with this coffee maker, it just makes it's premature demise so much more disappointing! Will update review if B&D replaces.

Have not had any problems,

I have not had any problems with mine and can only say good things about it. The timer has worked perfectly, which is especially important when you start your day at 3am!
I have always had good luck with the Black and Decker models and this one even keeps me coffee hotter longer than some of the others.

No adequate replacement carafe,

This review is from: Black & Decker DE755B 12-Cup Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
I was satisfied with the coffee maker. Especially like the permanent filter, hadn't had one of those before. But I gave this model only two stars because the replacement carafe just won't do. The only replacement option from Black & Decker does not really fit this coffee maker model DE755B. You have to shove i in to fit and then it is really stuck so you have to practically topple the coffee maker to retrieve the carafe. Just any carafe won't do, it has to press up against the area where the coffee comes out or the coffee won't come out!

Good coffee maker for the price,
By Skyland Ranch (Maine, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black & Decker DE755B 12-Cup Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
We've had this Black & Decker for 4 years and have made 2 pots of coffee a day so we're really surprised it's lasted this long. We like our coffee strong so we use a regular filter with fine ground coffee which makes for a good tasting coffee. The water seems to be hot enough. I drink my coffee black so it's actually too hot for me at first but my husband uses milk and he hasn't complained.
I use the automatic timer often and have never had a problem unless I inadvertently set it for pm instead of am which I have done several times. Over the years the base paint has flaked but that's surely due to putting a wet coffee pot on or taking the pot off before it's completed dripping. A few complaints I have are that the "Sneak-A-Cup" feature stopped working after about a year and I don't really like the setup in the top where the water comes through because it's not that easy to clean. But for the price it's a good coffee maker. I don't know if the pricier models are much better.

Not a fan, spills everywhere when pouring.,
This review is from: Black & Decker DE755B 12-Cup Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
We have had this coffee pot for only a month. It was a gift, though I wish we could return it. I have had no problems with the clock and setting the brew time works fine. When you lift the top up to take out the filter, the water vapor leaks all down the back of the machine. Our biggest complaint would be that each time we pour the coffee it spills and gets coffee all of the counter. I have tried a variety of ways of pouring it.. nothing changes the spilling and it's extremely frustrating!

Security hazard,
This review is from: Black & Decker DE755B 12-Cup Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
One replaced after two months not heating anymore. Another one which died one year later, not heating anymore too. It was a good opportunity to notice that the bottom/base was damaged (by normal use!!!) and that potentially coffee could be in contact with the wires in the base. A colleague of mine told me she had the same issue at home (damaged base). This could set a fire.
The clock is perfect. The coffee was OK. Crappy model. Black and Decker should test properly its products.

carafe doesn't stay in plcae causing spills,

This coffe maker makes decent enough coffee but has a glaring flaw. The cutoff for the basket has a spring on it that will actually move the carafe so that flow is stopped, causing coffee and grounds to spill over, making a big mess. Not a good design.

Leaky Carafe,

This review is from: Black & Decker DE755B 12-Cup Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
I've had good experiences with B&D products in the past, but this coffee maker is really unpleasant. There is a BIG problem is with the carafe; coffee spills all over the counter when pouring; doesn't make particularly good coffee either. Brand new and already researching a replacement. I wouldn't even give it to Goodwill. I'd give this coffee maker 0 out of 5 stars.
