I love this coffee pot---it is clean looking and finally the pot pours without dripping all over. (I have buying this coffee maker for years and some of the pots would drip.) The timer is convenient and the handle has been improved so water doesn't accumulate there from in the dishwasher. I know from experience that this appliance will only last about 2 years. I wish it would be longer. One drawback---it is supported by 2 feet in front and one at center back-which makes it feel unstable. It would be better if it had 4 feet.

Exactly what I was looking for!,

It took several orders from different sellers but I finally found the coffee maker that I wanted. Primarily, the coffee filter basket swung out rather than being accessible from the top. The problem with most others is that the top cover is so large that it would not open underneath upper cabinets. The other poor reviews can not be substantiated as far as I'm concerned.

I moved to a new house last year and discovered my Cuisinart Coffeemaker wouldn't fit under the counter. With expenses mounting from the move, I went out and purchased this B&D model. The other reviewers were on target. It makes nothing but a mess when filling the water resevoir or just pouring a hot cup of coffee. I've learned to scoot the maker right to the edge of the sink to help avoid excess cleanup. It makes a mess! The brew basket requires some force to remove too. I finally learned to just carefully extract the used filter with grounds after exerting too much force a couple of times. With some force, the basket would pop out, sending wet grounds all over the place. I've finally given up on this coffee maker now that the non-stick surface has worn in several places. The plate is beginning to rust and I'm a little concerned about it rusting through and creating a fire/electrical hazard. It does make a decent cup of coffee but it's poorly designed and made.

The DLX900 failed in 6 months.
GUARANTEE! Yes! Mail them the plug and $7.50 to ship another. NO THANKS! o You must pour coffee very slowly from this unit or coffee goes everywhere. o Coffee taste improved with replacement unit (NOT Black and Decker).

This is the worst coffee maker I have ever owned. I've come to expect that inexpensive coffee makers won't last very long (nor will expensive ones, so why bother spending alot), BUT this one is just awful. The carafe design is such that you cannot pour without coffee spilling all over the counter. The basket that holds the filter does not fit right. Its got a clock... big deal. Don't waste your money.

How can you screw up the design of the pot,

Everything is fine on this EXCEPT every time you pour, you have to pour VERY slow or else it will just run down the pot all over the counter, floor, side of the coffee pot etc. Coffee pots have been around long enough that I don't see why you could let something like this into production. I'd say stay away from this. This one flaw makes me and all my co-workers hate this messy maker.

I don't think so.,
By harry12 (Florida) - See all my reviews Old coffee pot died. Wifey said she'd pick one up at Wally-World. I asked her to not come home with a programmable pot - we never use that feature. So Wifey comes home with the B&D DLX900 (it's programmable). First thing is wash the system. From this simple act I find that one must pour the water into the water reservoir SLO-O-O-O-O-LY! It seems that the carafe lip geometry cannot handle a 'regular' pour speed. After wiping up the counter and coffee pot, I tried to remove the brew basket. Now folks, I'm seventy-three years old. Been brewing and drinking coffee longer than most of you have been alive. I couldn't get that frelling basket off. Seems the side of the coffee maker body and the pivot hinge are not quite aligned. A flexing of the plastic parts is necessary for the basket to clear the body edges as it moves up or down, so it can swing into the 'brew' position or come off for servicing. Instructions call for one wash, I gave two. Thus I found another undocumented feature. After struggling to get the basket off, put in a new filter paper and replace the basket (while flexing the body parts), I opened the reservoir cover to slo-o-o-o-o-ly pour in a second flush. The cover has a nice large lip. When the cover is opened, the condensed moisture runs down the cover underside and collects in the lip. Close the cover and the trapped water conveniently flows onto your counter top. One more thing; when not making coffee, I push this maker back under the upper cabinets. To pull it back out, the natural place to grab the unit brings my fingers into contact with the control buttons. You can get a warm welcome from this sucker when you're not expecting it. You better believe I now watch the controls like a hawk. I gave two stars as (after three months) the clock is still working and the DLX900 DOES make a good cup of coffee. I guess I'll keep this one but I sure wouldn't buy another! . |
