4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product
Works just like my cordless drill. Reversible, variable speed with a clutch. The great thing about cordless drills is the clutch so I can control the max torque applied to set screws without stripping them. However, the batteries always die so when I have a job to do I have to wait to charge the batteries or find that they won't hold a charge anymore. Now I don't have...

I bought this drill from another retailer, and after using it for 2 weeks, the variable speed failed. It only worked at full speed. I took it back and got another one of the exact same model, 2 weeks later, same thing. The variable speed failed again.

If it only happened once, it might have been a fluke. But the exact same problem 2 times in a row means...

Now I don't have to wait anymore. I think this drill is great. I only wish the chuck were a 1/2 inch. The drill is also bulkier than cordless drills I've owned. But it's a great replacement since I refuse to keep buying expensive batteries. For the price I highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars This drill kicks butt!, April 5, 2007
This review is from: Black & Decker DR203K 5 Amp 3/8-Inch Drill (Tools & Home Improvement)
The best drill I have ever used. It is powerful, has a great clutch and chuck. Electrically and mechanically sound. It has one flaw and one flaw only. This flaw doesn't deserve the drill to be docked a star either. The forward/reverse switch is finicky and with the slightest touch it will move and you will have to reposition it to continue to use the drill. In the drills defense however, my fingers have been amputated below the first knuckle so it amplifies the problem. The clutch is delicate enough to do drywall, but is great for subfloors because of its consistency of operation. I am rebuilding a home in very bad shape and my brother's Skil was not cutting it at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great corded drill with a clutch., March 3, 2008
This review is from: Black & Decker DR203K 5 Amp 3/8-Inch Drill (Tools & Home Improvement)
I previously used a Makita cordless drill with a clutch to drive screws for building a deck. The batteries would not last through too many screws so I decided to buy the Black & Decker DR203K. This drill works great for driving 2 1/2 inch long deck screws into TREX deck planks. My 12' by 13' deck will take over 500 screws so it's great to have a corded drill with a clutch. The motor is powerful and stays cool even when drilling 1" holes into 4 by 4 posts. The locking spindle makes tightening drill bits a cinch. The drill may not be good for professional use but seems quite adequate for occasional use. For $40, you can't beat it and it comes with a 2 year warranty!

If it only happened once, it might have been a fluke. But the exact same problem 2 times in a row means that it's inherent in all these drills.

Buyer beware.
