4.0 out of 5 stars So Far, So Good.
Have owned this for about 3.5 months now for light projects around the house. It's pretty bare bones, but does the job well. I really appreciate the power from a corded drill after getting fed up with how weak my old cordless was. At this point, the toughest thing I've put it through was drilling two holes into brick -- it got hot but performed its task admirably...

3.0 out of 5 stars Black & Decker Dr260B Drill
I bought this drill to replace my older model B&D drill. The only reason I bought this drill was that Amazon had it on sale for $30. My old B&D drill just needed a part which was not available. In reality I do not like this drill much. The chuck assembly sucks. Most of the time when you are drilling the drill will get loose and you have to stop it and retighten it...

I bought this drill to replace my older model B&D drill. The only reason I bought this drill was that Amazon had it on sale for $30. My old B&D drill just needed a part which was not available. In reality I do not like this drill much. The chuck assembly sucks. Most of the time when you are drilling the drill will get loose and you have to stop it and retighten it. I usually have to use a vice grip and adjustable pliers to get the drill tight enough to finish the job. The other problem is when you take your drill out, because it slips,it now has burrs on the smooth part to the point that it will not go back in it's holder without taking a file to it to remove the burrs. My advice is do not buy this drill. I don't know what happened to the old B&D (well I do) but I rather have a drill with a chuck that uses a key. Spend more money and get a good drill.

Have owned this for about 3.5 months now for light projects around the house. It's pretty bare bones, but does the job well. I really appreciate the power from a corded drill after getting fed up with how weak my old cordless was. At this point, the toughest thing I've put it through was drilling two holes into brick -- it got hot but performed its task admirably. Otherwise, for drilling through wood, drywall, etc -- has worked fine without any issues.

Assuming that it's durable over the longer term, the only cons are:

1) It feels a bit "cheap" in the hand (but, what do you expect for $25?)

2) The chuck has some give in it (when you press the bit into the target, there is some initial give). Not sure if it was engineered this way on purpose, but was a little disconcerting at first. But, doesn't affect any outcomes.

3) The soft carrying case is fine (I actually prefer it over a hard case), but could have been made slightly larger as the drill has to be in a "V" shape in order for the zipper to zip. Another 1/2 inch of height would have done the job without being so snug. Strange choice. Oh well.

Overall: Price is great and I've been quite pleased with this purchase so far. Probably not the drill of choice for industrial use -- but works just fine for occasional projects around the house.

5.0 out of 5 stars nice handy lightwt. drill, November 14, 2011

This review is from: Black & Decker DR260B 3/8-Inch 5.2 Amp Drill/Driver (Tools & Home Improvement)
I ordered this drill for my home projects only.
I ordered it along with set of drilling and driving bits.
Its handy lightweight drill with screw driving capability.
I like level gauge included in drill itself.
its rated for 110volt.
Drill could have been more sturdy and less plasticky.
also I did not like placement of bit holding area.

rest it does its job as prescribed.
Amazon prime subscription is awesome and i recommend it to all.
Shipping was super fast and i recieved it as per deadline.

Packing also was good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frustrated with cordless batteries?, April 7, 2012

After having my last cordless drill die, and replacing a the rechargeable battery was more expensive than replacing the driver/drill... I went back to the driver with a cord. Hooray! Power drill on demand!!! It works, and no going to get the drill, only to find the battery is dead.

Good job!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good drill for small projects, April 6, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Black & Decker DR260B 3/8-Inch 5.2 Amp Drill/Driver (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this drill just a several days ago and have used it for a small project with plastic. It works fine, has clockwise and counter-clockwise trigger, it's easy to choose speed from very low (like electric screwdriver) to fast for drilling. Drill is comfortable to hold and built-in bubble level helps a little (I wish it would be few of them for different positions of drill). I read in some comments about very tight cases - mine works fine if I put drill in "V" position inside, there is enough space even for a few extra small tools (like measuring tape, pencils, cable ties...). Soft case also has 5 flat pockets outside - very useful for keeping sets of drill bits together with drill. I don't know how this drill would work with hard job, like drilling beton walls, but I wouldn't buy $30 drill for hard jobs. I bought this one for small home projects, and it completely meets my expectations.

5.0 out of 5 stars power to spare, March 5, 2012

I don't use a drill enough to buy a cordless for the novelty. I have had in the past, but the batteries wear out and go dead and new ones cost a fortune. The reduction on this drill is great for driving screws of any size. Has lots of power.

3.0 out of 5 stars Value, October 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Black & Decker DR260B 3/8-Inch 5.2 Amp Drill/Driver (Tools & Home Improvement)
After many broken and discarded Black and Decker power tools this drill for do-it-yourself home projects has been used twice without breaking. Rechargable and plug-in Black and Decker drills and screw-drivers have been reliable. The key-less chuck and drill bit storage are nice, although I already have them a few drill bits should be included. The Tampa,FL service people are rude and uncooperative so forget about warranty and or repairs.

1.0 out of 5 stars JUNK!, October 14, 2011
This review is from: Black & Decker DR260B 3/8-Inch 5.2 Amp Drill/Driver (Tools & Home Improvement)
I cannot believe I was dumb enough to buy two of these pieces of garbage.
Not at the same time either....but one after another. (Thought maybe the first one was a fluke)
Keyless chucks are absolutely worthless.
Variable speed trigger is hit-and-miss at best. More like all or nothing.
Trigger lock is WAY too easy to engage.
1500 rpm is sure death for a steel bit.
Last B&D tool I will ever own!!!!!
Gonna go buy one made anywhere BUT china.
Rating should be no stars, but that isn't an option.
