Black & Decker introduces the next generation of its popular, corded drills and hammer drills. These durable, hardworking drills offer a new industrial design, more power and improved features to take on all types of demanding do-it-yourself projects. These drills are equipped with a mid-handle design and soft rubber over-molded handles to provide more comfort and better control. The drills also have two-finger contoured triggers that are easy to grip. The forward/reverse switch is positioned just above the trigger for quick, convenient access. A lock-on button offers continuous drilling. The DR601K 1/2" drill/hammerdrill delivers 6.0 amps of power and 275 in./lbs. of torque. This high-power output is achieved through a durable new high-powered motor with double-gear reduction.

Don't bother,

After burning up my old hammer drill in the middle of a job I ran out and picked this one up, just to finish up. It barely scarred the outside of the cinder block I was going though when it began to smell, burning up already! I let it rest. When I used it again it just crapped out, the mechanism that sets it into hammer mode broke. I wasn't able to get though a single hole with this piece of junk. I took the masonry bit out, put it in my Dewalt drill (non-hammer) and finished up. I am a pro and do not abuse my tools, it would be too costly. I used this drill as it was supposedly designed to be used, and it failed terribly. I only gave it a star because it isn't terribly ugly.

Not Worth A Penny!,

Dont waste your time with this drill. I used it for 2 days and realized that 1.) it wasn't capable of drilling into concrete, or hard surfaces with even the best bits and 2.) the drill has a very weak motor, and began smoking after minimal usage.

I used my drill just 2 times (10 minutes) as a hammer drill,
and is not working anymore...
