5.0 out of 5 stars Better than most Ive tried, a great bang for the buck!
I need to iron daily/weekly for my work. Basically Im an iron snob and have used all the brands (except Rowenta, I cant say that), but other quality irons...Tfal, etc. This has been working very strong for half a year now. By this time most start to leak and get fabric stuck on them. This has worked great and the ceramic bottom has worked really well on my clothes without...

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to follow a Rowenta
This iron has some nice features; the lighted dial for heat settings, being able to leave the water in the iron is nice, it`s easy to maneuver. What I miss most is the slippery sole plate the Rowenta had. My Rowenta is more than twenty years old, it was a gem till it started leaking. For the price, the Black and Decker will do just fine

I need to iron daily/weekly for my work. Basically Im an iron snob and have used all the brands (except Rowenta, I cant say that), but other quality irons...Tfal, etc. This has been working very strong for half a year now. By this time most start to leak and get fabric stuck on them. This has worked great and the ceramic bottom has worked really well on my clothes without getting things stuck over time. I highly recommend.

Update 12/28/10: It has now been over 1.5 Years since owning this iron and it is still going strong. No leakage, no issues! Ive been hard pressed (no pun) to find a better iron for the buck than this. I iron 5 days a week atleast, so it gets a lot of use. Dont hesitate to buy, and for the price its top notch!

Update 4/12/11: Well after 2 years this iron finally died. But for using it 6 days a week for two years I was very pleased with what I got out of it. For the amount I use an iron, this stood the test of time, liked it so much I bought the exact same model.

3.0 out of 5 stars Glad and sad!, January 19, 2011
This review is from: Black Decker Digital Advantage Iron Kitchen
We are now at the end of our second D2030 iron. My wife loves the iron after using a Rowenta for some time. Sadly, the power cord connection is poorly designed and so now in less than a year the cord is causing intermittent power as it is wiggled during use. I agree with the other reviewers, why can't they figure out how to make a cord that doesn't short out? I still have the one my grandmother had from the 1960's and its cord still works fine.
Waiting for reply from B&D about warranty on this warranty replacement. Both worked great for 9 months or so then the power cord issue.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Rowenta substitute, January 13, 2011

After I read some of the other reviews I was a little skeptical on purchasing this iron. I initially wanted a Rowenta but it was not in the budget, so I decided to try this one. I fell in love as soon as I plugged it in, it heated up quickly which is good because I am always in a rush in the morning to get out the house. The iron had enough weight to it that I actually thought that I was using a Rowenta. I would definitely recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Out of warranty - out of luck, August 10, 2010

One month out of warranty (I assume - a year, but the manual doesn't say so) and it doesn't heat. Junk. No more B&D.

This iron is what you need to get it done! Stubborn wrinkles, air dryed fabric and the lightest material you have this iron will accommodate it.

1.0 out of 5 stars A piece of junk!, May 18, 2010
This review is from: Black Decker Digital Advantage Iron Kitchen
I purchased the Black & Decker Digital Advantage approx. 2 years ago. When set for steam the iron would occasionally leak water instead. I live in CA where the water is hard so the steam holes would clog and leave mineral deposits on the clothes being ironed. The Auto Clean didn't work at all. My biggest problem with this iron is the faulty power cord. When moving the iron across the garment the power would go out. I would need to constantly jigger the cord where it enters the iron to get power flowing. As a result heat was insufficient so a 5 minute chore became 10 or 15 minutes. I find this unacceptable. Even at the price point for this model I expect the power cord to function properly. I realize that the iron is manufactured in China - land of junks + junk, but this is inexcusable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This, February 5, 2010
This review is from: Black Decker Digital Advantage Iron Kitchen
I used this iron a total of five times after my previous iron (another poorly made Chinese product) would not even heat up after taking it out of its box. This Black and Decker Digital Advantage iron worked a grand total of five times before the digital display conked out. Now this iron will not even heat up as well. Unfortunately it is over a year and therefore the warranty is null. Ever since they moved their NC plant to China they have turned out garbage products! Don't buy this!

This Black and Decker Iron D1690 is a dud. My wife irons weekly and after 2 months this iron started leaking and not even getting hot anymore. I have contacted Black and Decker to and never even received a reply. My solution to the problem is never purchase another product by Black and Decker.
Thanks BD for your understanding and call back...
