5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and handy
In my home I have three large dogs that constantly shed and the flooring is mostly laminate. This product is so handy. I either use it as a stick vac with the brushes running (for the best pick up) or detach the dust buster for use in specific areas. It's great not having to deal with a cord, and it's more powerful than most cordless vacs. I will use it for a quick...

I bought this vacuum after reading all the rave reviews. With 2 small children I needed something to use everyday to pick up crumbs. I was very disappointed. I currently own a Eureka Boss Lite cordless which has been just OK but that I've used for four years. I wanted something more powerful so I bought the dustbuster. This review is from: Black & Decker DustBuster 9.6-Volt Cordless Vacuum (Kitchen)
This vacuum is very very heavy for a cordless, weighing in at 7 pounds on my scale. My full-size vacuum is an 8 lb Oreck so I felt this was way too heavy. Also, I was not impressed with its cleaning ability. I had to go over dirt many times before it picked up. This does not happen with the Eureka. I gave it 2 stars only because it is versatile in that it can also function as a plain old handheld but overall I was disappointed and I am returning it in the morning to look for something else.

It's great not having to deal with a cord, and it's more powerful than most cordless vacs. I will use it for a quick touch up of some scatter rugs and Persian carpets, but for deep cleaning I'll use a regular, plug in vacuum. I can use it for my whole house without running out of power. I like it so much that I have one in my home and another at my vacation home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Black & Decker Cordless Vac, February 20, 2007

I now own 3 of the Black & Decker Cordless Vacs, and my whole family loves them. They are extremely light, easy to carry, and do a great job on carpet as well as hardwood floors. The battery charge is long lasting and will do a whole house on one charge. The CFV1200 is being used by us now almost exclusively over our regular expensive vacuum. I highly endorse this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is great!, January 10, 2003

I want another for my upstairs. I hate to vac, but this makes it so easy, no cords, hoses to mess with. The motor is really powerful. I would recommend it to anyone. Also works great on kitchen floors. I just move from one room to another and never change anything!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Black & Decker DustBuster 9.6-Volt Cordless Vacuum (Kitchen)
We have owned several dustbusters over the years. The 9.6 volt size definetely has the best power. We use this model mostly for kitchen and bare floor clean-ups. It picks up the little stuff fairly well for a cordless. Also, its very easy to switch from a handheld to a floor vac. It certainly beats lugging out and plugging in the big cannister for the little messes. I have it hanging up next to the washer so it's very un obtrusive.
Now for what I don't like. It seems that with any dustbuster I've ever owned it charges and works fine up until three years or so when the battery just stops charging. Then you have to throw it out because you can't replace the battery that I know of

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Happy, March 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Black & Decker DustBuster 9.6-Volt Cordless Vacuum (Kitchen)
I am really upset with the performance of the Black & Decker cordless floor vac. The idea is great, but the vacuum is not. I used it maybe a dozen times, and the back of the handheld portion of the vacuum kept sticking to the upright portion. In essence, I had to fix the thing every time I went to use it. In it's defense, the suction was okay, and the beater brush was a good idea. Maybe I got a lemon, but I'm not willing to try it again. The vacuum is on it's way back to Amazon.com as we speak.

1.0 out of 5 stars fizzled too early, April 29, 2003

my husband bought this for our home when our last dustbuster died (it worked for several years) we have only had this a few months and it has already died. the battery doesn't hold a charge more than 10 seconds. the suction in the bottom part of the carpet brush never worked very well. i was very excited when we first got this product because it looked really cool and streamlined. unfortunately, the warranty is over and it the machine died just days after the end of warranty.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hand Held Works great, Upright Not So Great, December 3, 2003
By A Customer
I bought this just to use while my hoover was being repaired. It worked great at first! It was easy to use in small places my large vacuum could not reach and seemed to suck pretty well for a small vacuum. That was for the first 3 months. Now I can not get the upright part to suck up anything. The hand held still works great but just doesn't seem to work when attached to upright. Now it is going to the repair shop! It has been used on a weekly basis, just to let you know how much wear and tear it can take. It has been more convient than my large vacuum until the upright part broke.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lasted 2 years for me!, June 14, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Black & Decker DustBuster 9.6-Volt Cordless Vacuum (Kitchen)
I have had this vac for two years and it has done everything it says it does until now. The suction was great as long as I remembered to empty everything and clean the roller of long hair and pet hair. I would get about 10 minutes of power, depending on the amount of dirt/dog hair I had to pick up, which covered most of the house. I have gotten used to it, but it won't hold a charge now, and I have to say its not worth it to buy a new charger and battery ($45+), so I'm looking for a new one. Overall it did a great job for two years, and I'm having a tough time finding a replacement!

5.0 out of 5 stars Saving my back!, August 9, 2003
By
This review is from: Black & Decker DustBuster 9.6-Volt Cordless Vacuum (Kitchen)
I have been a fan of B&D Broomvacs for years, but the new cordless floor vac kicks things up a notch. It has a much more powerful motor, has extended run time from a full charge, and is very light and easy to maneuver. It's a nice gift to myself to save my back and I can even use it for in-between carpet vacuuming.
