Slim, sleek, black, and unobtrusive, this appliance mounts under a cabinet and performs four essential kitchen tasks: opening cans of all sizes, sharpening knives of all sizes, displaying real time, and keeping track of cooking times. Closed, the cover serves as a clock/timer. If you pull it down, the cover reveals an electric, hands-free can opener (with a magnet to hold lids) and knife sharpener. For easy cleanup, the cutting assembly removes and goes safely into the dishwasher. The can opener/knife sharpener plugs into a wall socket, while the clock/timer operates on an LR44 cell battery (included). The appliance measures 9 inches wide, 3-1/4 inches high, and 6 inches deep, and mounts under flush or overhang cabinets. I have been looking for a black under the counter can-opener. My last Black and Decker lasted almost 16 years. This one did not last a week. The front cover is very sleek and keeps the blade covered - too bad it snapped off the second time I used the can-opener. I am still using this appliance because I don't want a white can opener hanging from my dark cherry cabinets, but I can't use the clock or timer, since the cover is sitting idle in a drawer. I am very disappointed since I assume the nearly $... price tag was for those two features.

I love this can opener, especially since it very hard to find a black one. I've had mine for several months now and have never had a problem with it. It opens everything quickly and easily. Just stick the can under the blade and push the handle down. You can even walk away and come back when it's done, and it never stops until it's done opening the can all the way. I love that it opens and closes to hide the can opener, and the clock/timer is a plus! Well worth the money!

I keep selecting Black & Decker Spacemaker products, because they look nice, work well and are reasonably priced. I needed a black can opener that wouldn't take up valuable counter space, and the B&D was that and more. The timer has been an added bonus, as well as the knife sharpener. I have owned this product for 2 months now, and I am very pleased with it. Now I am waiting for B&D to add a black thermal coffeemaker to their product line.
