Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Smooth out wrinkles quickly and easily with this versatile iron. The unit features an INOX stainless-steel soleplate for gentle, effortless gliding, plus a pointed tip that works well for getting into pleats, between buttons, and along seams. Its user-friendly controls provide a fabric-select dial, a dry/steam selector for choosing between dry ironing or steam ironing, and push buttons for spray mist and steam surge. Use the iron on a flat surface for traditional ironing or hold it upright for vertically steaming out wrinkles from curtains or hanging garments. The iron also provides a fabric guide with setting suggestions--1 for synthetics, 2 for nylon and silk, 3 for polyester and rayon, 4 for cotton blends, 5 for wools, and 6 for cotton and linen. Its Smart Steam technology automatically produces steam with the fabric-select dial between 4 and 6--the higher the setting, the more powerful the steam. Other highlights include a translucent water tank, an "on" indicator light, an anti-drip system that prevents water spotting at low temperatures, and an Auto Clean system for keeping the steam vents free from buildup, as well as a Comfort Grip handle, a 360-degree pivoting cord, and a slip-resistant heel. For safety and peace of mind, the iron will shut off automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity if left on its soleplate or tipped over on its side; if left vertically on its heel rest, it will shut off after eight minutes. The iron measures approximately 11-2/3 by 5 by 6-2/7 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Product Description

Skip the ironing board and still get fantastic results on your favorite clothes and fabrics thanks to the vertical steam feature of the Steam Advantage iron. Plus get added security and peace of mind with our 3-way auto shutoff that turns the iron off automatically when the iron is resting on its heel rest, on its soleplate or on its side.

2.0 out of 5 stars not a good model, January 2, 2010

Jana (Brea, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black & Decker F1055 Steam Advantage Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate (Kitchen)
Yes, I am an ironer and no, I do not iron my underwear, hurrr. Knock it off you haters with your wrinkly-ass clothes. Anyway, I had this iron for less than a year before I gave up on it. For starters, the control dial on the front is small and very hard to turn. Design-wise, the red plastic trim is very attractive looking, but it is way too dark to see the water level easily, which is a real pain. The soleplate got discolored and scratched up pretty fast and no matter what I tried I could never get it clean again. Then the burst of steam button got stuck in the down position. Eventually it would drift back up all the way, but when pushed down a time or two it would be stuck again. That will not do, I needs my steam. I'm not soured on B&D irons as a whole, I have had several in the past and they've served me well, but this model has some flaws.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not So Great, November 6, 2009
This review is from: Black & Decker F1055 Steam Advantage Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate (Kitchen)
I had this iron for about a year or so. The electrical completely failed last week. Black & Decker won't help because of the age. I didn't know irons ever died.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful, February 9, 2010

This review is from: Black & Decker F1055 Steam Advantage Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate (Kitchen)
This iron should be a textbook example in bad design. The knob for turning it on and setting the temperature is VERY difficult to use. The only indication of what the numbers on the dial mean is on the other side of the iron (the hot side) down at the very bottom. When you tilt the iron to read this, the water pours out. It is very hard to tell when you've filled the water to the proper level the translucent water compartment isn't translucent enough. When pressing the steam button, an awful lot of the steam comes out the sides and up into your face. The meaning of the indication lights on the handle is a little ambiguous. This iron isn't worth it at any price!
