5.0 out of 5 stars B&D F65D Iron
No stick surface, good heat controls, steam vents stay clean (use distilled water)and most of all it feels like an iron and not a piece of plastic. Great value for your dollar.

3.0 out of 5 stars Big & heavy does not equal good
It's mediocre at best. Here are my problems with it:

- It's too heavy, so that if you have a light ironing board, the board tip over.
- It doesn't glide smooth on any material (tried cotton and wool)
- Poor job of taking out the wrinkles, even with steam.
- It takes about an hour to cool down, no exaggeration.
- The thing is metal so the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Iron that's nice and simple!, November 28, 2011
This review is from: Black & Decker F65D Classic Iron (Kitchen)
Sometimes the best things are simple.

This iron is nice and heavy like the old time irons which makes creasing a breeze. It steams well and the controls are very simple. The best attribute is that it doesn't have that stupid auto shut-off which allows the water in the iron to cool down and subsequently leak on your clothes.

I don't need all of the silly lights and sirens, and unecessary bells and whistles that these new irons have. Just give me an iron that steams and presses my clothes well. That is all!!

This review is for the F63D model only! All subsequent models have the auto-shutoff.
I found my F63D on EBay for 20 bucks. They are hard to find so get them while they can be got. I only saw 2 on Ebay (both used)

1.0 out of 5 stars Lousy, February 11, 2010

This is my second and they both were terrible. (I know - why did I buy another?) Thought maybe the first was just a fluke. Doesn't steam most of the time and spits water out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Iron !!, October 9, 2007

This iron does a superb job of pressing clothes ! Although retro looking, its heavy base ensures that the clothes get ironed really well in one run. The steam functionality works very well without spilling water. The non-stick base also prevents it from sticking to clothes. The only thing it lacks is a water level indicator, so you have to be careful while filling it up.

I would highly recommend this iron over other fancy looking but light irons that you might have to run over and over the wrinkles.

- The thing is metal so the whole iron gets hot, not just the bottom.

However, it does cost a fraction of the higher end models and from its looks it will last a long long time. 3 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Economical Iron., April 8, 2007

This is the best iron ever. It doesn't come w/all the fancy buttons and it doesn't turn itself off, but if you drop it, it won't scatter into a million pieces. It's heavy and it can get very hot (if you want) so it gets the wrinkles out and you don't have to press down hard. It can last for years and years and it won't cost you an arm and a leg!
