Wow! What a difference the adjustable shoulder strap makes. With our old blower I felt as if I were engaged in a wrestling match just trying to clean off our driveway. Now, with the shoulder strap the weight of the blower is evenly distributed so that I can work with ease. Why didn't someone think of this before? Another feature I like is the sound quality - this blower doesn't wake the neighbors! It can be used either with the flex tube or straight tube. Thank you, Black & Decker!

I've had a Black &Decker FT1000 blower for a couple of years, and while it worked I liked it. Unfortunately, it quit working, and my husband found that the brushes in the blower motor needed replacement, they were worn down. I checked with the factory authorized repair center and found that they carry no parts for this unit other than an entire new motor assembly at the price of $84. Now, you all know you can buy a new blower for half that price. In my mind, brushes in a motor are the equivalent of windshield wiper blades on a vehicle - you shouldn't have to throw the item away because a part like this fails, they are usually made to be replaced because they wear with time. I don't understand the mind set at B&D, I know I'll never buy another product made by them. This follows the pattern with their VersaPack tools - new batteries for them now cost "an arm and a leg". I've ordered a new Toro blower and I hope the good reviews on them will be an indication that it will give me years of use. The reason I gave the B&D blower two stars is the fact that I liked the design, the flexible tube is handy and it is well balanced and easy to use. I've used it for fall leaf cleanup and also to clean a small patio area by my front door - it should be "barely broken in".

I bought this blower not only for blowing debris off the driveway but to blow the water off my car after I wash it, saving me several very wet towels. It appears to be of excellent quality, especially considering the reasonable cost, and it does the job.

Haven't used it long enough to confirm reports of short longevity or the motor brushes wearing out. But I can say that I am completely satisfied with the functionality of the flex-tube. I am a bigger guy but still use the unit with the shoulder strap and direct the air with the flex-tube which has a real nice joy-stick style handle.

Two very minor points to be aware of and which made me give it 4 instead of 5 stars:

1) The unit is kind of "bubbly" looking so hanging it on the wall in the garage was a bit awkward until I got a proper wall hook.

2) It could use more power. Had I realized how weak (relatively speaking) the 140mph rating was, I would have opted for a more powerful unit.

I bought this on a daily special from Amazon. It is light and easy to use. Does the job well. Simple, efficient and easy to carry. I was looking for a blower/vacuum, but the ones I had bought were bulky and didn't do an effective job. I got this because of the price but it does a great job for a blower. Even at its regular price it would be a great buy.

Nice job Black and Decker. Now if only it had a vacuum too. :)

I really lucked up on purchasing this on sale, but it is well worth the original price. I do recommend this item.

This is a great blower for lightweight items (such as pine needles, leaves, etc.) - provided that they're dry and not built up with dirt, etc. Then you have to spend a bit more time on those areas, but even still, this is a great blower for the money. We use it about 10-20 times per year and have had it for more than 2 years; no complaints. 4 stars instead of 5 because dancing with the power cord is no fun!

My blower lasted one season and quit. The motor requires replacement as the parts cannot be ordered to replace those that require fixing. I tried ordering from different sites online and they only sell the entire motor, not components. I can purchase a new blower for substantially less than the cost of having it repaired. I'm very disappointed with B&D and will try another brand.

Very light and the flex hose make it a breeze (no pun) to operate. Not alot of air power, but just enough for the area that we need it for. Lost my first one in Katrina, Amazon had the replacement.
