Handy Little Chopper from Black & Decker,
By
This review is from: Black & Decker HC3000 Handy Chopper Food Chopper (Kitchen)
I don't enjoy cooking and food preparation as much as some people, but when I need to chop up some onions, nuts, other foods in small quantities, I reach for my Black and Decker HC3000 Handy Chopper. This device is inexpensive, easy to use, lightweight, and perfect for food chopping when you have a small amount of food to be chopped. This unit only holds 1.5 cups, so it isn't very practical for those who need to cut up lots of food. I typically use mine for garlic, onions, and other foods. Since I don't cook very much, this is really all I need to suit my food preparation needs. One word of advice I can give about this chopper is that it will not operate at all unless all of the parts (cup, lid, blade) are properly assembled and snapped perfectly into place. I found this out the hard way one day when I was trying to chop some food and it wouldn't start. I had only owned this device for a couple of weeks at the time and I assumed the worst: that I got a defective product that would need to be returned. But then I disassembled, reassembled, tried again, and it worked. The problem was that I did not have the lid screwed on tightly enough- the marked groove on the lid wasn't lined up where it needed to be. This is how the chopper operates. It will not start up at all if anything is out of place. Because this unit is so small, it can easily get knocked around if you leave it on your countertop. I have found it best to wrap it up and store it after each use. Its small size makes it easy to store. And the parts (except for the base itself) are all dishwasher safe, so it's easy to clean. This chopper will be too small for some people. But if you're like me and you limit your time in the kitchen to the bare minimum, then the Black & Decker HC3000 Handy Chopper is just what you need. It chops foods quickly and easily, saving you the time required to manually chop your food with a knife.

Not a great buy.,

I bought this an year ago and it worked perfectly for few months. I've been mainly using it for onions, green leaves etc. After few months, the blades were sharp enough and it couldn't make onion paste of it. The jar also started showing small crack lining from the friction between blades, onions/tomatos and the jar plastic. It seems like the materil used is very soft and gets scratched easily. After few months, the lid also becomes loose and if you try to put tomatoes in it, they'll start leaking the juice from the top when the mixer is on.It's definitely convenient, but not dependable for long time.

New and Improved (?),
This review is from: Black & Decker HC3000 Handy Chopper Food Chopper (Kitchen)
I had an original B&D Handy Chopper which was wonderful! Chop garlic for the meat and vegetables, then add oil and vinegar and bam, fresh salad dressing. It lasted for ten years before it started leaking from too many dishwasher loads. I bought a new one called the handy chopper plus. The plastic is brittle, which is not as easy to use and doesn't hold up as well in the dishwasher.Too bad they "improved" on a wonderful gadget! I was really saddened when it was not available in the old version and still look for it in re-sale shops. Anna
