I love the steamer and we are eating more healthy. However, twice the steamer has leaked water (about 1/2 c) out the bottom during cooking. I hope this is not a recurring problem. I looked at many reviews of many products and noted that this was a problem on some of the machines which had fancier delay-start timers. I hope it's not a continuing problem with this model.

I purchased this item because the first Black and Decker steamer I had was fantastic - I used it very frequently with excellent results. This new version is a piece of junk. It's difficult to set up and fill, and does not steam evenly or in good time. I am currently looking for a replacement.

I just bought this and really like it except for one thing - it didn't come with any instructions or recipes. It's pretty straight forward but it also doesn't have the warranty info.

I use this steamer nearly daily. Fruits, veggies, fish, chicken, rice, eggs - it does them all. Top rack of dishwasher safe (though, I've put the steamer baskets in the bottom rack before without a problem - but don't use a dry cycle) for all but the base unit.

Pros:
Nice size rice bowl for a family of four
Double-deck allows cooking of multiple foods
Easy to clean with snap-out bottoms of baskets
Easy to store, nests down to one-basket height for storage

Cons:
Hard to clean heating nub
Steam is unevenly distributed by design of the "flavor tray"
Doesn't hold large items, like globe artichokes, easily
Short electrical cord

Being an automation engineer, purchasing anything is a project. Most other units had electronic controls and strange options that had nothing to do with steaming food or long life. It is a food steamer for goodness sake. The unit does exactly as expected and cleans up in an instant. The unit can expand from a small unit to a large unit by simply using the second tier. I add water, turn the dial, wait, eat; the other units eather could not be cleaned, were designed to feed 20, had a 12 inch radius foot print and still could not perform at the level of this unit. Do not waste your time on anything else. This unit replaced a 15 year old B&D steamer used 3 time a week. I fugured 2,340 uses at $0.008 per use; thats crazy cost savings. Just press the BUY NOW button and say "boy am I smart".

I was looking to upgrade to a larger rice cooker, found this one on Amazon and asked for it Christmas. I thought it would be great for steaming rice and other veggies, more functional that just for rice. Unfortunately the rice bowl (small white thing pictured inside the top container) only takes 1 cup of rice - too small of a portion for a family of 6!

It would be nice if that was written somewhere in the description, because now i have to pay to ship it back or just sell it on craigslist. Bummer.

I did find a really nice rice steamer that also has a steaming tray for veggies, it is perfect and was only eighteen dollars at Target Oster 14-Cup Rice Cooker - Black. The veggie steamer is smaller, but the rice bowl is huge!

Plus I like the metal bowl and glass lid much better than plastic parts.

This is a terrific steamer for vegetables. I have not used the double feature yet and not sure that I will. My previous black & decker steamer was round a smaller and that is what I'm used to using. When I had to replace it we purchased another brand that looked similar but the quality was inferior...the plastic VERY flimsy. That is why we went back with black and decker.

Great steamer and it's just the right size. Simple to use, E-Z to fill and see the tank level. Would recommend to others. Also great service and S&H from Amazon once again....

This is a great little machine. I use it almost every night for dinner. Steams vegetables out of the garden in about 15 minutes. Just one of the steaming containers makes more than 3 people could eat. I typically use one steaming container and the rinse and put in the dishwasher. The next night I use the other one and then wash them both at the same time. Easy to clean and very efficient. I would recommend this to anyone.

We got this unit because we purchased a digital one from BB&B that crapped out after only a couple months. We like the simplicity of this unit, and it works fine. We had to get a new lid for the unit because the one that came with it was warped. But even the new lid doesn't fit all that well onto the clear parts, and the clear parts don't fit into the base really tightly. It works, but it all seems loose.
