Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Smooth out wrinkles quickly and easily with this versatile iron. The unit features an INOX stainless-steel soleplate for effortless gliding, plus a pointed tip that works well for getting into pleats, between buttons, and along seams. Rotate the dial to adjust the heat from low for nylon, silk, and polyester to hot for cotton, wool, and linen. The unit's Smart Steam technology automatically generates the right amount of steam for the fabric type selected, plus its thumb-activated push buttons allow for manually activating the spray-mist and steam-surge functions. Use the iron on a flat surface for traditional ironing or hold it upright for vertically steaming out wrinkles from curtains or hanging garments. Other highlights include a translucent water tank, an anti-drip system that prevents water spotting at low temperatures, and an Auto Clean system for keeping the steam vents free from buildup, as well as a Comfort Grip handle, a slip-resistant heel, and a cord-reel button that retracts the cord for tidy, compact storage. To help ensure safe operation, the iron will shut off automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity if left on its soleplate or tipped over on its side; if left vertically on its heel rest, it will shut off after eight minutes. The iron measures approximately 12-4/5 by 5-2/5 by 6 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Product Description

Keep the cord out of the way and make storage a snap with our First Impressions cord reel iron. It retracts the cord at the touch of a button and includes an impressive range of features like anti drip, an Auto Clean system and a Comfort Grip handle. Plus enjoy a wide selection of steaming options including vertical steam – so you can skip the ironing board and still get flawless results.

2.0 out of 5 stars (Somewhat less) Impressed!, December 16, 2009

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Black & Decker ICR515 First Impressions Cord-Reel Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate (Kitchen)
(The following review was written before my 6-week-old iron just stopped working one day -- lights on, no heat. I replaced it with the same model, but the new appliance smells like melting plastic and spits water along with the steam. Quality control issues at B&D? Apologies to the 4 readers who liked my review. What follows is my original 5-star review.)

I look for very little in an iron -- it has to be well-balanced, have an auto-off feature and get hot enough for my quick style of pressage. This iron has these features and a few more nice touches. The fill indicator is so oriented that I don't have to move the appliance to see whether it is full, The auto-off light doubles as a heat indicator light, turning green when the iron is hot enough, red when it's not and blinking red when it has shut itself off. And it heats up mighty fast!

My only worry is about the cap for the water reservoir, which gimbles up on fragile-looking plastic struts that would easily break if hit the wrong way. Also, the retractable cord is a feature I have no use for.

But for the money, about $28 at Walmart, this appliance is very well-designed, works extremely well, and is just about perfect.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy This Iron, December 28, 2011
This review is from: Black & Decker ICR515 First Impressions Cord-Reel Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate (Kitchen)
This is my second Black and Decker Iron. They both stopped working within 8 months of their purchase, the lights come on but no heat. They leak water all over your cloth when you re-fill. They are cheap though, but this is definitely my last Black and Decker iron.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy!, November 23, 2011
This review is from: Black & Decker ICR515 First Impressions Cord-Reel Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate (Kitchen)
I bought this iron after the one I had for 13 years stopped working. I loved it at first. It ironed really well with little effort. I have now had this for 8 months. If you put water in the resevoir, it leaks all over the clothes from under the metal plate. If you do not use water at all, it does not get the wrinkles out of the clothes. I used to love Black and Decker, but I am starting to wonder if they even make a quality product anymore.
