(Somewhat less) Impressed!,

This review is from: Black & Decker ICR515 First Impressions Cord-Reel Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate (Kitchen)
(The following review was written before my 6-week-old iron just stopped working one day -- lights on, no heat. I replaced it with the same model, but the new appliance smells like melting plastic and spits water along with the steam. Quality control issues at B&D? Apologies to the 4 readers who liked my review. What follows is my original 5-star review.)I look for very little in an iron -- it has to be well-balanced, have an auto-off feature and get hot enough for my quick style of pressage. This iron has these features and a few more nice touches. The fill indicator is so oriented that I don't have to move the appliance to see whether it is full, The auto-off light doubles as a heat indicator light, turning green when the iron is hot enough, red when it's not and blinking red when it has shut itself off. And it heats up mighty fast! My only worry is about the cap for the water reservoir, which gimbles up on fragile-looking plastic struts that would easily break if hit the wrong way. Also, the retractable cord is a feature I have no use for. But for the money, about $28 at Walmart, this appliance is very well-designed, works extremely well, and is just about perfect.

Do Not Buy This Iron,
This review is from: Black & Decker ICR515 First Impressions Cord-Reel Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate (Kitchen)
This is my second Black and Decker Iron. They both stopped working within 8 months of their purchase, the lights come on but no heat. They leak water all over your cloth when you re-fill. They are cheap though, but this is definitely my last Black and Decker iron.

Do not buy!,
This review is from: Black & Decker ICR515 First Impressions Cord-Reel Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate (Kitchen)
I bought this iron after the one I had for 13 years stopped working. I loved it at first. It ironed really well with little effort. I have now had this for 8 months. If you put water in the resevoir, it leaks all over the clothes from under the metal plate. If you do not use water at all, it does not get the wrinkles out of the clothes. I used to love Black and Decker, but I am starting to wonder if they even make a quality product anymore.

Mine lasted for a year or so, but...,

just as another reviewer stated, it just quit one day. No warning, the light comes on but no heat. It's a shame, because it did press rather well and produced sufficient amounts of steam to de-wrinkle a suit.

Bought this stupid thing in March 2010, it died in July 2010. RIP Black and Decker, you will go out of business if you keep selling junk like this.

So the iron failed 8 months after I got it. Big deal, happens, off to warranty RMA land. After paying $10 to have a replacement sent to me, I got a poorly packed, obviously refurbished iron. That's not the same model. Not even close. No stainless steel soleplate. No retractable cord. No steam function. The replacement is a Black & Decker Press 'N Go, which is available here on amazon for $12. Totally done with B&D. I can't even begin to state how disappointed I am with this.

I have been using this iron for almost a month now and have had no problems. Great steam and spray. With the cord storage bottom it sits safely on the ironing board. It's heavier than most irons which I find gets clothes wrinkle-free faster. The only problem I can foresee happening is the cord reel giving out; I don't know the lifespan of it. I would buy this iron again.
