I was in the middle of installing plywood flooring in my attic when I realized that cutting shapes and slices of plywood by hand was going to take a loooong, tiring, no-fun-at-all time, and so I bought my first electric saw. I crossed my fingers and hoped that this inexpensive tool would last long enough to finish the job, and I was delighted to find that zipping through wood with a power tool is fun, and that this saw has lots of zing and feels solid! I'm sure there are far better jigsaws out there, but for an occasional, around the house job, this machine is absolutely fine, and I doubt I'll ever wish for anything better.

It comes with one wood saw blade. I've ordered a set of saws for wood AND metal, and now a whole new world of reducing things to little bits has opened up to me!

Purchased this jigsaw for my Father. Since then it has been used on multiple projects including replacing a floor in a trailer and cutting through 19/32" floor boards, multiple 3/4" MDF projects as well as different types of metals. Cuts through them without an issue, and the blower is nice to keep the dust out of the way. It holds a few blades on the jigsaw itself which is helpful. Excellent jigsaw for small to medium projects but not for any type of commercial use.

I am really surprised with this B&D Jig Saw. I bought it to cut circular designs in 1/2" plywood and was hoping it would have sufficient strength. Worked absolutely excellent, clean, fast, accurate, really surprising me. The quick clamp to hold the blades works fine, fast and easy to insert blades. Another advantage is its ability to hold both T type blades as well as standard. Not to overlook, a major advantage of this inexpensive model is its pure simplicity to operate. Some of higher priced models are so sophisticated that us simpletons have a severe challenge in trying to figure out just how to get the blades inserted correctly and adjust all the controls. Think I am kidding? I bought this one after renting a top of the line model and then bringing it back, not being able to even get the blades in correctly - and then found out that the experts, two of them, were no better than I at figuring out either how to get the blades in correctly. And this happened with more than one model. Further, the top of the line could only take T type blades, none of which I had. So - simplicity and effectiveness are winners.

As has been the case for the past 40 years, the Black & Decker Sabre saw that I purchased was reasonably priced and a quality product. B&D power tools hold up quite well over the years and are always an excellent buy.

Bought this saw while building a small deck in my yard. Have not purchased a jig saw for sometime but the lower end models have improved. This B&D is fine for the money. Paid $29 at the Home Depot. I cut through 5/4" deck boards with no problem. The quick blade change feature is the best. The little compartment to hold them is very nice, no hunting around for blades. For a home use saw, this will do the job.

Vendor wa very accommodating and jigsaw was exactly what I wanted for a Chirstmas present. Delivery although estimated later than when product arrived was within acceptable limits.

I bought this to help cut my paintings out of wood and it is super easy to use! You can easily make rounded cuts if you want to! I cut out a perfect oval out of a 1/2 inch piece of plywood! It also can cut through steel! This price is a steal, i was originally looking at home depot but of course as usual checked amazon to see they had it cheaper!

Not sure what folks are talking about with the "crooked" cut. Did they check to make sure the baseplate was on flat with no degree tilt? You may need to use a screw driver to tweak this a bit. Blade goes straight up and down; the speed is variable, I can see the cut line, I like the storage device... I'm not so sure what people are complaining about for a $30 jig saw. Go buy the $100+ Bosch or Porter Cable if you want the perks... that is not what this product is. Straighten your base plate, insert your blade correctly and if it doesn't go up and down, or vary speed then complain. geeezzz.

I purchased two of these saws for construction use. I nearly purchased the tophandle bosch model instead, but I knew I'd be putting the saw into unskilled hands that wouldn't know the difference between quality and economy. I have to say that this saw surprised me. I needed to use it, and it worked perfectly. The blade changes are SO easy, and it accepts T and U shanks, like another reviewer mentioned. I only cut some 3/4 poplar with it. I'm not sure how it will hold up against 8/4 maple. The sole plate showed signs of wear after two days of use, but I don't know how much abuse it took. The sole plate is very cheaply constructed, compared to any other jigsaw I've used. I didn't test out the bevel adjustment.

I'm not on the fence about it. This inexpensive saw worked well for me. It was cheap enough to put in the hands of the clumsiest hired helper. I'll keep using my Bosch, but I'd rather YOU borrow my Black and Decker. It gets four stars, but it's competing in a different event than say, Bosch, Mafell, Festool, etc...

The thick and opaque blade guard makes it very difficult to see the point where the cutting is occurring. I'm returning it and buying the similarly priced Skil 4290-02 4.5 Amp Variable Speed Jig Saw, which has a much less obtrusive guard made of steel wire.
