Does what it says,
This review is from: Black & Decker JUS350B 350 Amp Jump Starter (Automotive)
I purchased this jumpstarter from a local retailer (I only paid $50 for it). Car is an older Camry. It was sitting dead in a parking lot for 4 months. This jumpstarter says you need to charge it for 48 hours before first use, but i was on a time constraint so i used it after 24. The unit started the car right up. Used between 25% and 50% of the charge. The unit itself is small enough for me to easily throw into a backpack or keep in a corner of my car. I don't think the light is necessary but whatever. The only thing i didn't like was that the AC charger is a two prong plug sticking out of the unit. See that black panel next to the light in the picture? That lifts up and reveals the recessed prongs. If you buy this unit, you will need an extension cord.

This product works fine on small cars. Even when it was left out at freezing temperatures it started my car. Note that if you have a truck or larger car you will probably want the 500amp version.

Compact jump starter. Fits behind the seat of my single-seat pickup truck.Only thing to mention: you need an extension cord to charge it (not provided). You have to open the little black cover on the front panel and attach the extension cord there to start it charging.

I feel that B&D hit the target with these units. They offer a wide array of sizes and features so all you have to do is find the model that fits your needs. I wanted an all in one unit so I went for the JUS375IB model which is not sold by Amazon so I picked the unit that is closest to it here to review. It is just this model with additional features. I felt led to post something because I really like the unit and also to let people know there is another variant out there that might be exactly what they are looking for.Things I like about this unit: weight, size, quality of construction, method of charging, warranty, design. I purchased these to go in my daughter's and wife's car. The weight/size is easy for them to handle. Operation is very clear as to how to do a jump start. Has both audible and visual warnings in case you reverse the cables and let's face it we all get tired and make mistakes. You actually have a switch that makes the jumpers hot which not all units do which for me makes sense. Also the switch only controls the jumper cables whereas on some units out there they control other features as well. Great I want to charge my cell phone on the USB outlet (not on this unit), lets make the switch that turns that on also control the jumpers! I see people complain that these units require a separate power cord and that they don't have an AC adapter brick to charge them. Why would I want another little black adapter around to lose and get mixed in with all the others? This way is so much better. I have a total of five jump starters and all I have to keep track of is where is an extension cord that fits, easy. Another plus to this unit is that using the AC method of charging these units cannot be overcharged. If you read the manual on some other brands they do not have this protection and in some cases don't even have a light to show when the unit is fully charged. So you want me to set a timer an not really know if I got a full charge or not and if I overcharge I take the risk of electrical hazard, don't think so Tim. These units go into a trickle mode so you can leave them hooked up for extended periods of time without worry. Design wins because everything is in it's place and protected. Light does not protrude. Have a Stanley unit that had the light on the side and it got broken within the first month. These are tools for me and I am not going to be gentle with them. Jumpers are stored well and don't protrude, nice flush unit that slips behind the seat or doesn't roll around in the back of the car but I would secure it for safety. One year warranty, some only have 90 days and there are Black & Decker repair centers all over the place. Light is adequate, they could have done better here. Things I needed that this unit didn't provide: I wanted an all in one unit that also had a compressor and a USB port. That is why I got the JUS375IB (found at world's largest retailer). That way I don't have to worry about multiple units. Other thoughts: If I had a car with a problem battery/alternator/short I would go with a larger unit but then that increases the size and weight. Also if you live where it gets really cold or a large engine same applies. Summary: Well built, good warranty, safety features, design, balance of features, can't be overcharged, no adapter to keep track of. Sorry for the long review, hope this helps.

Jumped a Nissan V6 Twice on One Charge,
By
This review is from: Black & Decker JUS350B 350 Amp Jump Starter (Automotive)
I like it. Not too heavy, not too big, and it had enough amps to jump my very dead Infiniti i30 (aka Maxima) twice on a cold day. Dead, as in the digital clock didn't keep its time. It was sitting at home, warmed to room temperature, so comments about cold-temp performance should definitely be heeded.

This is the model with the USB port built in. I bought this used on Craigslist from a guy who recently purchased it and used it twice. It still held a full charge, so I took it home and put it on my 1982 Supra, whose battery was too dead to work the courtesy lights but not dead enough to kill the memory in the digital clock. About 60 degrees outside. Put it on the battery terminals, thought I would wait a couple of minutes to let it juice up the battery a bit. Turned the key and wham! Ignititon! I'm very pleased. It's not too big, not too heavy (I guess around 5#), has a nice area light, USB charging port and it works. I was afraid it wouldn't be powerful enough for a 6 cyl, but it is in mild weather, at least. I would recommend this product.

I used it three times before re-charging the unit. All you have to do is connect + to + and - to - , turn the switch and start your car. It's that easy!

Below freezing. Will NOT start your car, even B&D confirms,

This Winter, 20 degrees. Battery Dead. This would NOT start my 4 cylinder car.*Talked with Black & Decker and they said, "yeah, when it's that cold, this won't want to start it" "In degrees lowering than freezing, 34 degrees is the lowest." Actually said the even "higher amperage jump starters you wouldn't want to use when it's below freezing." *Full Disclosure: It BARELY started it when I took it outside from being inside at 75degrees. So I left it in the trunk overnight (after fully charging) and it wasn't even close to turning it over.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Black & Decker JUS350B 350 Amp Jump Starter (Automotive)
I don't recommend this item. If your battery is completely dead this will not jump start it. Better off using the money toward a jump starter with more amps or just buying battery cables.

This device never functioned from new as it always failed to charge properly. B and D will not stand behind the product in that they say it must be charged immediately upon purchase, but that does not appear on the packaging.
