5.0 out of 5 stars Bottle and Lid Opener
This new revised bottle and cap opener has 2 new accessories added to it this year. It's a great product for older family members that don't have the strength any more to open bottle caps or lids. I've even found with some of these plastic cap tops that they are so hard to open that when you do it makes a mess from you squeezing so hard, not with the Black & Decker, it...

Bought this for a friend who lost use of one arm, due to a stroke. So for opening jars, it worked well for a while, but the stiff foam grip pad has seperated from the adhesive strip holding it. It still works, but not as well as it should. Why they bothered with a can opener built in, is just useless fluff. it is very limited with the sizes of can it will open and/or hold...

This is great for people with arthritis or any problem with hands. It is easy to use, powerful motor that opens the most stubborn jar and does not take up much counter space. I bought it for my wife who had a stroke last fall and doesn't have much hand strength. She can open any can or jar with no problem using this machine. I highly recommend this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars taller, October 24, 2005
This review is from: Black & Decker JW400 Lids Off Open-It-All Center (Kitchen)
I love the Black & Decker Lids off. My hands hurt all the time because of the computer work I do. The only problem is it does not open tall bottles like water or pop bottles. It would be wonderful if they made a small portable battery operated lid opener for bottles.

I got this because my wife has problems opening anything due to an injury in her hand. I thought it was going to save me from opening every single item in the house. It does that when I am not home, otherwise, I am still the jar opener.

It works as expected and I can't complain about it really. It came recommended by our hand surgeon and that is why we got it. Only complaints is that it doesn't work on very small tops but they do have to be very small. Overall, a good product if I could get my wife to use it when I am around.

It really works. It opens those small plastic juice bottles with the plastic "twist off" caps that are'nt twist off for the weak or arthritic. I've used it for big pasta sauce jars, small jars of mustard, and everything in between. The only drawback is the can opener, which works well, but not for very large cans, such as the "3 pound" coffee can (which actually holds about 2 piunds these days.)

The primary reason for choosing this product was for the jar opening feature which works great. The can opener can be a bit tricky it trying to engage the can you are trying to open. I have to make several attemps befor I am sucessful, then when I disengage the lid, the cutting unit detaches from the opener.

I am very impress with my purchas. I am older and have trouble opening jars and with a can opener included its great. I was able to throw out my old can opener of 20 years. Thank you very much for coming up with this..

It still works, but not as well as it should. Why they bothered with a can opener built in, is just useless fluff. it is very limited with the sizes of can it will open and/or hold well. Worse, if the can has liquid (don't they all?) it will spew all over the unit, and leave a bigger mess than using it is worth. Forget the can opener feature. If you can get it for $25. or less, then it is worth it.
