The newer LBXR20 is a 1.5 Ah battery. The LBXR2020 is a 2.0 Ah battery, and the LB2X4020-OPE is a 4.0 Ah battery (basically a piggy-backed LBXR2020). The first B&D 20v Lithium batteries (LB20 before 2012?) were, as far as I can tell, generally something less than 1.5 Ah with disappointing run time.
Different B&D 20v tools will come with different 20v Lithium batteries. Example: I purchased a LST300 Weed Trimmer that had the LBXR20 1.5 Ah battery. Before I used it, I noticed a sale on the LCC300 Combo, which not only had the LST300 Trimmer, but also the Blower for the same money and had the LBXR2020 2.0 Ah battery. I returned the single Trimmer and bought the Combo. So, it would seem different single tools or combo packs will likely come with different 20v Lithium batteries, or multiples thereof.
No 2 people will achieve the same battery usage per charge given the same task with the same tool(s). We walk/move at different speeds. Some people will prefer to have one battery that lasts twice as long, and others would prefer to have the flexibility of 2 batteries that have half the run time (one on the charger while using the other). Different strokes for different folks, and different use requirements.
I have one LBXR20 battery and one LBXR2020 battery. I have a smaller rural yard in a planned community, with about 250 lineal feet of edging/trimming around the perimeter.Read more ›
I do recommend this battery if you are looking for more usage time from your B&D 20v devices. Amazon also had the best price when I went looking. Add to that my free shipping with Prime and it was a great deal.
EDIT: I found how to tell the difference. Looking at the label on the normal battery and the "Extended Run Time" battery, on the very top line, next to the B&D logo, there is the model number written in white letters on a black background. The "normal" battery model number is: LBX20. The model number for the ERT is: LBXR20. That "R" is the only visible difference I have noticed.
EDIT ALSO: After several months of ownership, I have found that the ERT battery works best when it is fully discharged before re-charging. What I've gotten in the habit of doing is running my ERT battery down, then the "normal" one down, then swapping back to the ERT. I have found there is a minute or so more of life left in the ERT. It seems that when I do this, it tends to last longer the next time I use it.

I am sure it is good, but I only needed to use it once. I don't use my Black and Decker hedge trimmer that much.Published 12 days ago by PORTIA HOLLIDAY
:) Good price and love that it is a Black & Decker and not a generic brand. The price you pay for a good drill and accessories, why risk it with a low quality battery.Published 14 days ago by A Shell
Holding its charge even when drilled not used for a long time. Original battery with drill stopped charging for some reason, but so far so good with this one.Published 19 days ago by enjoyedit
FOUR OR FIVE MINUTES IS ALL YOU CAN HOPE FOR OUT OF THIS BATTERY BEFORE IT HAS TO BE RECHARGED IN THE BATTERY CHARGER THAT IS ANOTHER EXPENSEPublished 23 days ago by Robert Davis
These batteries are expensive and they power down too quickly. I go through 2 of these in my typical suburban yard. Very disappointed. Read morePublished 25 days ago by Gregg Z
