Features
Black & Decker’s exclusive Smart Charge Technology combines seamlessly with the powerful 12-volt lithium-ion battery in the LDX112C to provide a charge that lasts up to 500 days in between uses–that’s five times the battery life of previous comparable NiCd models. By providing an extra level of control, the 11-position clutch helps to prevent the stripping of screws. Practical construction features include an LED work light that illuminates the work surface for easier drilling in dark places and a soft-grip handle for added comfort during use. The 3/8-inch chuck makes for quick and easy bit changes, and the on-board bit storage provides easy access to the screwdriver bit.

I was very surprised by the performance of this lightweight drill. I historically buy high-end cordless drills, but when my Makita 12V batteries wouldn't hold a charge, I decided to buy something less expensive. I've only owned this for 3 months and it hasn't let me down. I almost always use a quick-change driver in the chuck so I've never seen the chuck slip (as another reviewer mentioned). I wish a carrying case and/or extra battery was included but I'll survive without it. My only gripe is that the trigger is somewhat sensitive and it's difficult to maintain a constant slow speed (i.e. driving small screws). Great torque at high speed, though. You could buy 2 or 3 of these for the price of a high-end drill. For the money, this is a great product.

I have owned any number of NiCad cordless drills and they all succumbed to NiCad uselessness within a year, Porter-Cable, Skil, Ryobi, I forget what all. I bought this drill primarily because Li-Ion is a much superior battery tech....and was amazed not only by the power longevity of the battery, but the muscular guts of the drill.....which requires a strong motor and a high battery power delivery (in addition to the other Li_ion advantages of long-life and no memory effect). I was driving 2-1/2" bugle head screws with this and that's a demanding task for cordless drills. After two hours of intermittent use installing duct work and using drillits (in addition to sinking 4 of those long screws), it was still going strong.
I'd want something more substantial for commercial trade use, but this is great for the home. Now if there was only a) some source for inexpensive new batteries (they cost damn near as much as the drill, whatever the make) or b) their reconditioning or c)a corded power converter for when all batteries are dead or no longer available at any reasonable price. This one is still too new to have any second source for batteries.

It's a great drill, but buy it from Home Depot -- they sell it with TWO batteries for $59. Lowe's sells it for $49 with one battery. Neither store has the extra batteries on the shelf for sale. With only one battery, it will end up on the charger in the middle of a project.

I bought this drill to replace an older Black & Decker drill. The size and weight of the drill is amazing compared to my older model. The battery absolutely makes the drill a better buy!!
I have so far used this drill on 3 projects around the house on a single charge and there is plenty more juice left in the battery for drilling and driving in screws!

The Clutch doesn't slip if you know how to use the Torque setting. The Torque setting is really great, it works like a Torque wrench and ensures you don't drive the screw in to much.
I highly recommend this to anyone who will use it AROUND THE HOUSE FOR SMALL TO MIDSIZED PROJECTS!!!! Don't expect this thing to have the power to put together an entire house!! (Buy a $300 drill for that)

This drill is not for heavy drilling, the chuck does not grab well and bits tend to spin, but it is very convenient and light! For heavy work I still prefer a 120 volt drill.

Nice little drill/driver for a great price. Hard to believe that when drill drivers first came out the 12 volt was the most powerful you could get. This one works great, keeps a half way decent charge and is a nice size for small jobs, but powerful enough to use when needed.

I really like the new 12 volt Lithium Ion drill. I don't use a drill much, but the battery is ready to go anytime I need it. Keeps a charge forever.

This is a nice little drill for use at home. The Lithium battery makes it light & it also holds a charge for weeks when sitting un-used.
It is great for the occasional "honey-do" list. The compact size allows the drill to fit in tight quarters. It also has plenty of torque (adjustable) for it's size.

My one complaint is the low RPM's. It make it very difficult to start a speed screw, otherwise I would have given it 5 Stars considering the price. Also remember it only comes with 1 battery. Lithium batteries give you no warning, the have full power & stop all of a sudden.
