Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Equipped with professional-style, chrome-plated wire beaters and powered by 230 watts, this five-speed hand mixer with power boost performs any stirring, mixing, beating, or whipping task. With this tool, you can mix ingredients wherever they sit rather than moving ingredients into a stand mixer's bowl. Stir cookie dough, combine muffin mixes, mix cake batters, beat frostings, and whip egg whites and cream in their own bowls. For thin and medium batters, a plastic spatula attaches to the beaters to scrape ingredients from a bowl's sides into the beaters. The mixer's handle is angled to keep the wrist straight and prevent fatigue, and the top is rubberized for comfort. The beaters go into the dishwasher, completing the circle of convenience the mixer adds to a kitchen. The mixer is 7 inches high without beaters, and both it and the accessories store in a hard-plastic, 9-1/2-by-10-1/4-inch case. --Fred Brack

1.0 out of 5 stars ..., November 20, 2002

This review is from: Black & Decker MX95K PowerPro 230-Watt Spatula Mixer (Kitchen)
STOP! Don't waist your money! ... . I used it only three times before it died. The final time I used it, the motor made a horrible noise. All I was trying to do was to mix a small batch of cake frosting. I kept trying to let it rest, but the grinding noise got worse and worse. Finally it started spewing black smoke, so I had to unplug it and throw it outside before it started a fire.
All in all a very unsatisfying purchase!

2.0 out of 5 stars Cons outweigh the Pros, December 2, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Black & Decker MX95K PowerPro 230-Watt Spatula Mixer (Kitchen)
PROS:
1. Lots of power. When you need it, it's great.
2. Easy-clean beaters. (But most newer models have these.)
3. Natural angle of handle makes for easier mixing, and rubber handle is easy to grip with messy fingers.
4. Storage case is a nice add-on.

CONS:
1. Too much power. The lowest speed is too fast for some tasks.
2. Useless spatula attachment. I was intrigued by this idea, and it clinched my decision to buy this model, but it fell off within the first 10 seconds of use.
3. Very awkward control switch. The speed control is a switch you flip from left to right with your thumb, unlike other mixers I've used with a natural forward-backward motion. This is not just uncomfortable; it is actually difficult to stop somewhere in the middle without flipping the switch to full power and spewing batter all over the kitchen.
