5.0 out of 5 stars Finally got another one!
After my original odc325 died(6yrs of heavy use) I purchased the "new" stainless steel nightmare caraffe unit. For $60 you can have a pot that leaks and doesnt keep coffee warm. After surching online I was able to purchase my orignal one. It is a refurb but looks like it has never been used. I got it for $39.97 @ Service Merchandise.com. In case anyone needs to replace...

1.0 out of 5 stars WON'T LAST, bought 2 worked less than a year!!!
I love the space saving design. I have very low cabinets and most coffe makers don't fit under them. So, I bought this model. It leaked terribly within the first week. We put up with this as we had little options. The hot plate peeled and therefore the pot always stuck to the burner. Within a year it just stopped working. We thought that it was a fluke and bought another...

We put up with this as we had little options. The hot plate peeled and therefore the pot always stuck to the burner. Within a year it just stopped working. We thought that it was a fluke and bought another and had the EXACT SAME PROBLEMS AGAIN!! Again, it leaked immediatly, constantly. This one did not even last 6 months! At $60.00 a pop I will not buy this brand again. I hope someone else comes out with one. Don't waste your money. Great spacesaver but all the space you save will be constantly wet! We broke down a bought a standard coffee maker and just have to put up with the location of it.

1.0 out of 5 stars This machine has problems!, November 21, 2003

I'm actually basing this review on two different coffeemakers: my mom and I both happened to buy the same model of black & decker spacemakers within a couple of months of each other about a year ago, and both had the same problems. This has led me to believe it wasn't just that I got a lemon. (She's gotten rid of hers. Mine's on its way out: I'm asking for a different one for Christmas.)

1) you put in 12 cups of water but you don't get 12 cups of coffee. You get more like 10.
2) This is apparently because the seal between the water reservoir and the machine itself is poor: it leaks badly. I've had to place a towel under my machine every day because when I set it up at night, it drips continually approximately 7 nights out of 10, and in the morning the towel will range from damp to just plain wet. Altering the amount of water I put in (underfilling it) and wiping everything dry before I put the reservoir back has not helped this situation.
3) The water trails out to the front of the reservoir and down across the clock and controls before dripping onto the counter. So far the clock and controls still work, but I can't imagine that kind of exposure to water is going to be good for it long-term and it does rather seem silly to have designed it that way.......

Anyway. I had a B&D spacemaker years ago which I loved. But like I said, I observed this problem with two machines. So give the current models a miss until B&D straightens up its act.

I purchased the B&D Spacemaker, when my other one died after many years. Unfortunately, it's not the same. The thermal carafe does not keep the coffee hot for long. It drips when coffee is poured and coffee ends up all over the counter. I have to remove the lid and pour and even then it drips some. I will not purchcase another one. Caveat Emptor!

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy any other coffee maker but this one., February 16, 2005
This review is from: Black & Decker ODC325N Spacemaker 12-Cup Coffee Maker (Kitchen)
The thermal carafe is terrible. The coffee leaks down the side of the carafe. There does not appear to be any reason Black & Decker cannot make a carafe that functions well, but for some reason in order to pour the coffee without spilling you have to take the top off. I have owned a space-saver coffee maker for years and this new one is so bad I am throwing it in the trash and buying a new coffee maker. Do not waste your money.

This coffee maker that we ordered was supposed to be new. It wasn't. The filter basket was coffee stained, and looked like it had been cleaned out with clorox. So,buyer beware!

1.0 out of 5 stars Latest B&D "Space Saver" Under Cabinet replacement fo ODC325N, September 3, 2005
This review is from: Black & Decker ODC325N Spacemaker 12-Cup Coffee Maker (Kitchen)
Usually I praise Black & Decker's wide range of products. However, their replacement model intended to be the replacement for the reviewed above is junk! The coffee carafe is aluminum and is indeed, "a sight to behold!" Plastic, where used, appears cheap and unslightly.

Prior to ordering on line, I believe it would save you dissapointment and frustration to see an actual "new" model first hand. That not being possible, read other reviews to achieve the best approach to buying a good coffee maker.

Black and Decker most definitely went away with this model.

The above is my opinion only. Investigate, then judge for yourself.

3.0 out of 5 stars Different models??, February 5, 2004

I have had 3 Black & Decker Spacemaker coffee makers and have had mixed results. The first one lasted 6-7 years and never gave me any trouble until, one day, it just died. In fact, I had liked it so much I purchased another one at a Black & Decker outlet store because B&D was getting out of the home appliances business so I wanted to have a replacement handy.

I don't know what the model number of the original coffee maker was but the replacement I purchased looks just like the picture on Amazon -- it had a door covering the controls and the water container. Its model number was ODC325R and it was a disaster. It leaked everywhere -- completely unusable. Of course, it had been several years since I had purchased it so I couldn't return it.

I went to Wal-Mart and purchased a GE countertop model which worked fine but only lasted about a year and a half. I decided to give B&D another chance and ordered one from walmart.com. It looked like the 1st one I had (no door covering things) but its model number is the same as this one on Amazon -- ODC325N. It works great! No leaks, no problems -- couldn't be happier.

The upshot is, the original B&D was great (whatever its model number was), the ODC325R was a disaster and the ODC325N has been terrific so far (3-4 months). *BUT* -- the picture shown here for the ODC325N looks just like the horrible ODC325R I had so I'm not sure what Amazon is actually selling.

Good luck :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars B&D DEPARTS FROM QUALITY STANDARD, October 19, 2005
This review is from: Black & Decker ODC325N Spacemaker 12-Cup Coffee Maker (Kitchen)
This is the most poorly designed coffee maker I have ever purchased. Coffee can not be poured from the decanter without making a mess. Unbelievable that B&D would allow this item to make it into the market-place. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ONE.
