Broke in less than one month.

The pressure of the water in the filter basket pushes the basket forward which in turn allows the coffee to pour everywhere except in the pot!

I bought this coffee maker for my parents. They have had another Black & Decker space saver model for many years and love it. When they tried this one out, the part that holds the filter came sliding out and the coffee stopped brewing. In order to get it to work they had to tape it closed. My mother called the customer service number and was unable to speak to a human being. She left a message as instructed. They said someone would contact her within 24 hours, but she never received a call back. After a couple of weeks of waiting for a replacement part, she called back again. Still no human contact, but the part did arrive shortly there after. It works a little better. She is still not sure she is going to keep the coffee maker though because there are other things she does not like which were available on her earlier model. This one does not turn off after two hours and the indicator that it is on is very small and hard to see. I would not recommend this product.

Exactly the right size and color - But impossible to brew coffee without the coffee brewer tray sliding out and 1. stopping the brewing, and 2. Causing backup in the brewer basket and resulting in about one third of the coffee spilling out of the unit creating a hot dangerous mess. The only way I have found to prevent this is to either stand there and hold the basket in or try and tape it closed. Not a good situation, and an obvious design flaw which should have been discovered prior to marketing the unit

This product turned out to be a huge disappointment for us. It stops perking part way through the process. We are forced to restart the mechanism serveral times in order to make a full pot of coffee. Apparently, the heat sensitive component in the circuit is failing. It is gettting progressively worse with each use. Black & Decker needs to bring back the original spacemaker, which was a much better product.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS COFFEE MAKER !

Over the past 10+yrs. I have had the previous two models. When the pump went on the second one, I purchased this new model. The NEW design causes an irritating problem. The brew basket (new design) holds condensed water on top of it around the edges and then acts like a tiny rain forest, dripping water on the counter below while brewing. And there is NO WAY to remove the basket (to dump the grounds) without raining MORE of the condensed water down onto the counter. The whole reason for the "BLACK & DECKER UNDER THE CABINET COFFEE MAKER" was to be able to utilize the counter space under the coffee maker. I happily did that for over ten years with the mail, keys, etc. - now I try to keep ONLY paper towels there to soak up the drip puddles. There are also four other changes that are disappointing but on the plus side - it does make coffee.
/// UPDATE ///
Surprise!surprise!surprise! it's April 2008 and as I feared, all that dripping water and the other problems/irritations with this model have finally KILLED the coffee maker. All that money and barely six months of use. I'm going to the DOLLAR store to purchase the $10 model that is in every day use, for over a year, at my "work". NO more B&D.

Because I would if I could. This product earns its reputation as the worst-ever under the counter mounted coffee maker by Black and Decker. It does all the things it's not supoosed to do - no auto shut-off, it doesn't keep coffee hot after brewing, it leaks like crazy in too many instances, parts have to be painfully put in to place in a particular sequence so leaking doesn't occur... I could go on and on. It's poorly made, you'll probably hate it, so just don't buy it, hoping that the reviews you read were just flukes. They're not. Spend the money on an older model if you care to (they're actually quite pricey), even if it's used. I bought this for my mother and Black and Decker did take it back but would not pay for return shipping for their defective product. I hope she didn't throw away her old one, I'm thinking about repairing it... YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! :) Good luck!

Filter holder doesn't stay in place, causing coffee to run everywhere except into carafe. I called Black and Decker, they claim no one has complained about this! Nonsense, this is my last black and decker spacemaker I'm ever going to buy.

Even on normal days, this coffee maker always drips water on the counter. It seems to condense along the top of the basket and drip, drip, drip. This morning, I woke up to find coffee sludge running down the front of my kitchen cabinet. If you don't seat the coffee pot juuuuust right, it blocks the coffee flowing through the basket. Fortunately, we haven't totally wasted our money, because you can just remove the mechanism that blocks the flow. This prevents us from grabbing a cup of coffee while it's still brewing, however. We had the prior model of this coffee maker for years and we really liked it. What a disappointment this new model has been. May 07 UPDATE: six months later and the burner has stopped heating, so the coffee no longer stays hot. We finally dumped this one and ordered the old model off of Ebay.

I wish I could give this less than one star, because this is truly the worst consumer product of any sort I have ever used. I can't recall ever having a problem with a Black & Decker product, but this coffee maker is JUNK! A couple of days after installing my first one, I walked into the kitchen to find coffee overflowing out of the coffee maker, all over the counter, and onto the floor. I noticed that the basket was not quite in all the way. I thought I had just not put it in all the way. The next day, it happened again! I called Black & Decker, and they sent me out a new basket which had slightly larger nubs on the back of it. These held the basket in better -- for a couple days. Then, the same thing happened again: coffee overflowed everywhere. I called Black & Decker again, and they sent me a complete replacement unit. I installed it and ran a brewing cycle with just water. No problem. I ran the next cycle with coffee, and it overflowed AGAIN! I then thought, well, maybe it just can't handle brewing a full 12 cups. I tried again with 8 cups and then 10, and everything seemed fine for a couple days. I woke up this morning, however, to find that coffee had overflowed everywhere yet again. It's a holiday weekend, so there's not much I can do now, but you can bet that come Tuesday morning, I will be on the phone with Black & Decker demanding a full refund.
