Both the LEDs light up but it generates no electricity.

Hardly used it before I reconnected the cables incorrectly and that blew the fuses.

I saw there is 1 other review giving this power inverter 1 star but I had a very different experience with it. Washington state got hit with an ice storm. In the greater Seattle area, 460,000 people lost their power (and we are still in the middle of it right now). Every home improvement, costco, Lowes, Home Depot stores were out of generators. We are going on our 4th day without power and not expected to get it back for another 3. I was desperate to get a light going, a tv going, something to entertain our 2 yr old at night time in the dark.

I went and got this inverter at home depot (btw, I paid $75 there so it is cheaper on Amazon), hooked it onto one of our cars, plugged in a 50 foot extension cord and ran it inside our home then plugged that into a 6 plug power strip. We can now power our TV, 2 laptops, modem, router, a light (with a halogen bulb) and 2 cell phones (via the computers usb port). We could probably power more but only have 6 slots on the power strip.

No this is not a generator. I would not plug in a refrigerator, washer / dryer or anything like that but given the fact we had no power at all, this thing is amazing. We have a gas fireplace, gas hot water heater and gas stove range so we are warm, clean and can cook but now we can see without using candles and stream shows onto our tv for some entertainment.

I recommend this item! It helped us when we needed some help during a hard winter storm.

I bought this for my RV to power the 120V system. I use little power generally and have been running a 200 watt inverter for quite some time. This inverter works and is pretty quiet, but there is one problem: it doesn't like the 15V charge rate from the Black & Decker 25amp charger I use. The 200 watt inverter didn't mind it, but this one shuts itself down at 15V (manual says 15.5V, +/- .5). It's not a major issue since while running the generator, I can plug the 120V system into that directly instead, but it's still a nuisance. Otherwise, it's nice to have an upgrade on that old 200W.

I chose this model because I could get a 500 Watt band name inverter off Amazon for the same price as a 300 Watt no-name through local retail. I only needed a 300 watt, so I have plenty of reserve power with this inverter. I've only used it a few times so far and it has worked flawlessly. It's quiet and having the batter clips as well as the cig-lighter plug is handy. It tells you what type of devices require the battery clips because of the power draw and possible voltage drop or current protection you could have if running off a cig-lighter.
Only owned it a month now. My only complaint is the device has a VERY bright LED telling you the power is on. Not much power loss in the LED but if you're using this thing at night, you can't miss it. Very bright.

I have owned this inverter for two years now and have never had a problem. We use it on trips to charge electronics, and use it at fireworks displays to power a fan during the heatwave. It will run my electric string trimmer, as long as the engine is running. If an inverter is putting out 4 amps of AC power, it is using 40 amps of DC (battery) power. This is a good inverter if you know how to use it.

Very flimsy, The metal contacts inside the outlets bent the first time I plugged in. Do not buy. The Whistler inverters are much better.
