5.0 out of 5 stars Very good unit for the price
Very good unit for the price point. I don't mean to belittle the person who gave this inverter a one-star review, but his rating is completely unfounded. It demonstrates a fundamental lack of understanding on his part. You can't fully power this 750watt inverter via a cigarette lighter socket without running the risk of blowing a fuse. Most cigarette lighter circuits are protected with either a 15 or a 20 amp fuse. That amperage is insufficient to run this inverter at full power.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unit is great., April 6, 2009
This review is from: Black & Decker PI750AB Inverter (Automotive)
The unit is great but it has a few quirks. The earlier models had a switch instead of a pushbutton on and off. Most people would prefer the switch but it's not a big deal. Also the unit only comes with a 3ft battery clip hookup. So if your hardwiring this unit, get some 2 or 4 gauge wire ahead of time, like the manual suggests using. One last thing is the unit puts out a modified sine wave ac power. Instead of your standard smooth sine wave, it looks more like an aztec pyramid. So if your appliances need a standard sine wave output keep this in mind. If you have no idea what that means you'll probably be fine purchasing the unit..

This inverter worked like a CHAMP on our cross country trip with our 6 yr. old grandson. It kept his PS2 and 12 inch plasma TV going the whole trip.Would highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars PERFORMED WELL, October 3, 2008
This review is from: Black & Decker PI750AB Inverter (Automotive)
I bought this power inverter at a local hardware store, 2 days after hurricane IKE. Of course we had a power outage and it performed well, used 4 hours to power up a black and white analog television and a 60 watt table lamp and a small floor fan. I was VERY pleased with the performance.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money . . ., January 11, 2011
This review is from: Black & Decker PI750AB Inverter (Automotive)
I purchased this inverter to run off of 2 12Ah batteries in parallel. Together, these batteries could supply NO MORE than 288 watts of power through the inverter.

After two weeks, the "low voltage" alarm start sounding. I checked the batteries and they are pushing 13.4 volts. There doesn't seem to be any reset buttons for any fuses on the inverter, so I think I just wasted $80.

In spite of the name "Black & Decker", this inverter is unreliable -- don't waste your money.

Based in Black & Decker reputation I bought this inverter to power my (70 Watts) Laptop's charger in my van, it works fine for a copuple days and then start to fail, I get a brand new replacement from walmart, It last for a couple weeks and finnally start to blow fuses, It was repalced again and few days later start to fail, I returned it, but this time I decide to get a refund. My experience with this B&D Inverters was so bad, besides that B&D inverters have an anoyed buzzer warning each time the Battery is under 13.5, Volts that means that you must have your engine runing to keep it silent.
Then I try a 400 Watts Cobra CPI480 from Amazon and my problems went away it is runing quiet it doesn't drain the battery, is cheaper. I'm happy with Cobra's performance.

1.0 out of 5 stars I would expect more, December 28, 2007
This review is from: Black & Decker PI750AB Inverter (Automotive)
I bought this at a local chain store because it was the lagest one available. I was dissappointed when I opened it up and discovered they do not give you the 12v cigarette lighter adapter, this one only comes with the battery cables clips. I checked B&D's website and it confirms this. The 200W and 400W model come with BOTH. I am returning the 750W and getting the 400W instead.
