4.0 out of 5 stars Another fun little Black & Decker Gadget
I like this one because it's for the person who's got everything. We recently got a butcher block in our kitchen and this is the first item I put there, not only as a conversation piece...but as a handy tool within arm's reach when I don't feel like killing myself with the cleaning of one pot or pan for 20 minutes. The only negative comment i've got, regarding this...

You'll hear no complaints from this quarter about the Black and Decker Power Scrubber. The thing does its job. I've been using it for a few weeks, and I've found that it does decent work on most daily chores: sinks, pots, pans, and counters all come clean with a few swipes of the scrubber.

It's sturdy, well designed, easy to operate, and fully immersible...

I like this one because it's for the person who's got everything. We recently got a butcher block in our kitchen and this is the first item I put there, not only as a conversation piece...but as a handy tool within arm's reach when I don't feel like killing myself with the cleaning of one pot or pan for 20 minutes. The only negative comment i've got, regarding this apparatus, is the fact that we pollute the environment with dead batteries when it's time to change 'em.

Being such a small item, you can stick it in your kitchen drawer, cabinet or just about anywhere. I don't know how long it will be, before the scrubbers wear out & we end up tossing the thing in the utility closet...but it's cute, practical & inexpensive. I got mine when it was 50% off, at HOME DEPOT. So...it's not like I lost lots of $$$ whilst purchasing it. The thing comes in handy too, when you have a wine or sauce stain on the countertop and you don't want to waste time rubbing in circles with a sponge or scouring pad, over the same surface for a few minutes. It won't do the job of your own arm & some elbow grease, but it certainly does make my dishwashing job easier & adds a little humor to the boring chore of standing at the sink by myself.

The device requires 4 AA batteries, which are included. At least mine came with the batteries...and they are B&D brand batteries. There are 2 scouring pad attachments and 1 blue-bristled scrub-brush. Some people may find the item noisy. It's all a matter of taste. Personally, i like the item and will continue using it, as it's made by B&D. B&D's products have always lived up to the Brand name.

Makes a great gag gift too...and most definitely has to be a door prize at any banquet or party.

You'll hear no complaints from this quarter about the Black and Decker Power Scrubber. The thing does its job. I've been using it for a few weeks, and I've found that it does decent work on most daily chores: sinks, pots, pans, and counters all come clean with a few swipes of the scrubber.

It's sturdy, well designed, easy to operate, and fully immersible for short periods (which is a definite plus when it comes to washing those pots). Mine came with one brush-head attachment and two scrubbers for non-stick cooking utensils. The instruction manual shows that other attachments are available, but I didn't get those with my scaled-down set. Batteries (it runs on four AA ones) were included.

I'm not sure, though, how necessary this little gadget is. Sure, it does a good job, but so does a low-tech kitchen rag and a little elbow grease. I really can't say that I've found anything that the Power Scrubber does better than I can do the old-fashioned way with only slightly more effort.

Thinking about buying one? There's no harm in that, if you've got a little disposable cash burning a hole in your pocket. It's a fun little thing...but don't expect cleaning miracles. It's good enough, but I could probably have lived without it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, December 25, 2005
This review is from: Black & Decker PKS150D Powered Kitchen Scrubber (Kitchen)
I asked for this item for an early Christmas gift and it was a wonderful gift...this kitchen scrubber is AWESOME. It gets EVERYTHING off of your dishes, even caked on or hardened food and grease; it was a great purchase. It's convenient for me as a college kid, and I highly recommend it...it cut my dish washing time down. The only con is that if you want replacement scrubber heads you cant get them in the store, you have to call Black and Decker. But other than that, this is another excellent product from Black and Decker!

4.0 out of 5 stars B&D cleaning "tools" or how to get a guy to clean. . ., January 17, 2007

While not the first to come to market with a powered scrubber[As seen on TV]this scrubber has a much more solid feel than its competition without being *too* hefty. It's geared so there's sufficient torque to allow for some serious scrubbing and the ability to remove any remaining teflon from your non-stick pot or pan. And if you know the difference between a pot or pan*, this is a gadget made just for you.

I would strongly suggest using rechargeable batteries rather then start the cycle of use and refuse and ameliorating the long term impact on the environment and your wallet[or purse].

So why not five stars? Two reasons....first, the tired hospital color scheme is just as attractive today as it was 50 years ago. Yech! Of course, if you still have any appliances of that bygone era, you will remain completely coordinated satisfying even the most severe case of OCD. Second, only TWO scrubbing pads???? Yes, they are different grades of "scratchless?", but including at least one replacement set wouldn't send B&D stock into a downward spiral, would it? I would strongly suggest ordering an extra set of pads [no, unlike B&D's other scrubbers, these pads are exclusive to this model only] with your purchase.

Is this product even remotely neccesary? No! But you know what they say about a woman and her toys . . . er. . . D'oh!

I've got this sinking feeling that in a couple of months I'll be writing a review on the new Porter-Cable "POWER SPONGE", and men will finally begin experiencing the joy of receiving something to clean with next Christmas! Apparently revenge is a dish best served cleaned.

AX~

*hint: Can you *handle* it?

I found this to be a great little gadget. When I saw the commercial for it, I couldn't wait for amazon to carry it, so I could try one out. I think I paid more because I got one right when it first hit the market, instead of waiting for the price to drop. It's great on dishes, cleaning the sink and I really love it for the shower. It's a great cleaner for grout, without you having to put in the extra elbow grease, it does the work for you in very little time. Great on floors too for the little corners and against the wall where you can't get with a mop.

My son gave me a power scrubber for Christmas and it's really awesome! I have scrubbed dishes, cookie sheets, stove, sink, microwave, counter and dish drainer. I have used all three attachments for different purposes and found them all to work great. I would highly recommend this product and intend to buy several more for gifts!

Merely pressing my palm moderately against the scrubber causes it to stop - Straight out of the box, new batteries, plus another fresh set. Couldn't be more disappointed. It's going back into the packaging and back to Amazon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Black & Decker PKS150D Powered Kitchen Scrubber, March 19, 2007

Overall, I think the product is OK. I was looking for a replacement for the Black and Decker/Craftsman Scrubber which has become difficult to find. Price is lots better than either, probably because it doesn't use re-chargeable batteries, but replaceable batteries -- but when the supplied AA batteries die, I plan to use my own rechargeable batteries. My actual satisfaction can be raised to a 4 or 5 star level; however, I feel uneasy about this product being available for a long time (short product life) and I have doubts about the accessories. I prefer the B&D/Craftsman scrubber attachments. There is a much smaller assortment of attachments and they seem less durable and light-weight compared to the older model B&D/Craftsman scrubber. The older model Black and Decker/Craftsman scrubbers that used the VersaPak batteries were lots better in many ways; for instance the scrubber pads were replaceable and much thicker while the scrubber accssories is just a thin scrubber on a sponge so the whole accessory head must be replaced rather than just the scrubber pad. Also, while an address was given for parts, no indication of type or cost of accessories available. Possibly, the lower cost advantage of this newer product will be overshadowed by the higher cost of replacement parts. After just a short usage, the two scrubber accessories looks like they need to be replaced after just a short amount of usage. The only relatively durable accessory head appears to be the nylon brush usually shown in the product description; but I suspect it will need to be replaced soon also -- The question of replacement of the whole unit vs. buying replacement accessories bothers me.

I expected a lot from this product... and its great... almost.
I am a college student who loves to cook... but hates to clean dishes. Normally I let them sit until I need to use one of them again - one or two days normally. I was so glad when I bought this that I didn't have to deal with tough scrubbing to get it all out... but all in all, I don't find it much different than using a normal sponge - except you don't have to stick your hand in the yucky water.
It isn't easier or even faster... quite often I have a sticky spot which I will have to still scrub with the sponge in order to get it.
It doesn't get corners well.

I am glad I got it, but, more often than not, I just reach for the sponge instead.
