5.0 out of 5 stars PS120 Battery in DeWalt DW926 Cordless Drill
After reading many reviews I decided to give this battery a try. It was by far the least expensive. Upon receipt I noticed some slight physical differences, but found that they did not hinder insertion of the battery into either the drill or the charger. Got this for a Dewalt. Other reviewers said you just needed to trim a tab for it to work in the Dewalt drill. Yes, that is true, but, no amount of trimming will let it fit into the dewalt charging base.
So, I just unscrewed the base of the battery and the top half of the Dewalt battery case fits right on. So, yes, you can make it fit the Dewalt and it works in...

5.0 out of 5 stars PS120 Battery in DeWalt DW926 Cordless Drill, November 5, 2009

After reading many reviews I decided to give this battery a try. It was by far the least expensive. Upon receipt I noticed some slight physical differences, but found that they did not hinder insertion of the battery into either the drill or the charger. I am also very pleased with the power of the battery. So far (a few months)I have used it a number of times and not yet had to re-charge. I gave it a 24 hour initial charge in my DeWalt charger which worked flawlessly. My drill is the DW926 that originally used the DW9062 9.6v DeWalt battery. This is a perfect alternative, and much less expensive, for the regular replacement DeWalt battery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome to Tool Time, August 31, 2007
This review is from: Black & Decker PS120 Fire Storm 9.6-Volt Hour NiCad Pod Style Battery (Tools & Home Improvement)
I was very happy to find that when my battery arrived I didn't have to spend the time charging it - out of the package it was ready to go. Now I don't have to be like Tool Time Tim waiting for an accident to happen, I can go ahead and jump in feet first. Thanks Amazon for nice prices for quality products.

I was going to throw out my battery operated drill and revert to a corded model when I decided to give it another chance. This new battery did the trick. The charge holds longer than I have needed it for recent projects (unlike the other battery) and I am back in the cordless camp.

The service was excellent and I received the product two days early. Good job!

4.0 out of 5 stars B&D 9.6 volt batteries - decent performance for the price, January 18, 2001

I have been using these batteries in my drill/driver for quite some time. I have found that the batteries provide a surprising amount of power and life for the voltage, and I have not noticed any memory effect. I have not compared them to other brands, nor to higher voltage batteries, but I am happy with the drill/driver and the performance of the battery. I suspect that the newer, higher voltage batteries probably give equal or better performance at less or equal weight, respectively.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top grade manufacturer product for a fraction of the retail cost, March 10, 2006
This review is from: Black & Decker PS120 Fire Storm 9.6-Volt Hour NiCad Pod Style Battery (Tools & Home Improvement)
My older cordless drill needed a new battery. After shopping the usual local (Houston) places (Lowes, Best Buy, Ace), I tried an Internet search. I was delighted to find the battery at Amazon at a greatly reduced price and with my order for some DVDs there was no shipping costs. Thank you Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars DeWalt fit - Heads up, August 23, 2009
This review is from: Black & Decker PS120 Fire Storm 9.6-Volt Hour NiCad Pod Style Battery (Tools & Home Improvement)
Just a heads up. The B&D PS120 Fire Storm 9.6-Volt replacement battery

DOES NOT FIT out of the package into a DeWalt 952 drill/screwdriver.

BUT ... I cut a 1/16" x1/16" notch with a utility knife into the seating area on the DeWalt drill to accommodate the extra guide on the battery.

(After insert adjustment, battery works fine in drill and a good price; I would have rated 5 except for the adjustment needed. I'm ordering a second B&D battery to have on hand ... both my 10 year old original DeWalt batteries had died.)

5.0 out of 5 stars works with DeWalt drill, November 5, 2010

I ordered two of these for my 15-year-old DeWalt 9.6v drill - they are virtually identical to the original batteries that came with the DeWalt, with the exception that there is a "key" molded into the B&D version that prevents it from sliding into the handle of the DeWalt. I filed a keyway in the right spot in the handle of the drill, and the batteries now fit just fine. This is a simple modification that takes about 3-5 minutes total and does not hurt either the drill or the battery - well worth it for the $$ saved versus buying the "OEM" version. Also, the batteries work with the DeWalt charger without modification to either.

So, yes, you can make it fit the Dewalt and it works in the charger as well, with one small difference. The actual copper tabs that plug in are solid on the new battery vs. bent tubular on the Dewalt battery. This makes putting the battery into the charger kinda different. Instead of just dropping the battery in, you have to sort of press it in, to make sure there is contact.
This all is still acceptable given the price difference.

This is a good, light duty system for piddling around the house or garage. It isn't an arm-twisting, torque producing power house, nor was it designed as such. It does what it is intended to do well, and that's that.

Battery was very good. I use it in a Black and Decker cordless drill. The previous battery was reconditioned and lasted about 5 years. Hope this one does as well, if not better. I would recommend this battery for those having lightweight projects where a cordless drill is needed.
