Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Take the guesswork out of making perfect rice with this easy-to-use rice cooker. The handy appliance offers a 10-cup uncooked-rice capacity, which means it can produce up to 20 cups of cooked rice at a time--great when gathering with friends or cooking for the whole family. Simply add dry rice, measure in the water, and turn the unit on with a press of the lever. Once the rice has fully cooked, the appliance automatically switches over to keep-warm mode to maintain an ideal serving temperature without over-cooking. In addition, the unit's see-through glass lid keeps in heat and moisture and makes it possible to check on food at a glance, while its removable, nonstick cooking pan ensures quick cleanup. Other highlights include "cook" and "warm" indicator lights, a condensation catcher to keep countertops dry, a stay-cool lid knob, a built-in lid hanger, and side handles for comfortable transport. A steamer basket (great for fish or vegetables) and a rice scoop that stores on board come included. The rice cooker measures approximately 11 by 11-1/5 by 8-8/9 inches.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not recommend strongly, November 29, 2007
This review is from: Black & Decker RC866 20-Cup Rice Cooker/Steamer, Silver (Kitchen)
I have been using this B&D Rick Cooker from past several months. Everytime I cook rice the starch flows out from the cooker spoiling the cooking platform. I tried several ratios of Raw Rice to Water but of no use. Now, I really regret why I did not return back. Now, I'm shopping around for another rice cooker.

1.0 out of 5 stars Died after a year - Horrible rice cooker, June 22, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Black & Decker RC866 20-Cup Rice Cooker/Steamer, Silver (Kitchen)
First of all, I must say that this is NOT a 20-Cup rice cooker. I was surprised by the size of this rice cooker when I received it as it was only slightly larger than my old 3.5 Cup rice cooker. I don't know what size cup these guys are talking about. That's not, however, the reason why I'm giving it a bad rating. I agree with another reviewer here who wrote "the starch flows out from the cooker spoiling the cooking platform". This rice cooker made a mess every time we used it. I realized that if I leave the lid half open the starch wouldn't flood the platform, but I didn't like the way rice was being cooked with a half open lid. This being said, the rice cooker died after a year. I am shopping for another rice cooker now. This time I will spend a little more money and make sure to read the reviews before I make a purchase. I wouldn't recommend this rice cooker to anyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very bad Rice Cooker, October 11, 2006

This rice cooker is the worst buy I have ever made. My wife bought on and it worked great for three days then it just stopped working one day. I returned it and got a new one thinking that it was just the one we bought. Brought it home and again it worked great for thre days and then it just stopped. This is truly the worst buy ever.
