Unlike a conventional rotisserie, which rotates food past a stationary heat source, this vertical rotisserie circulates heat around the food and adds a heating element in the center. The result is fast, uniform cooking from the outside in and from the inside out. Large enough to accommodate a 10-pound chicken or other bird, or a 10-pound pork, lamb or beef roast, the rotisserie is compact enough (15 inches wide, 14-1/2 inches high, 14-1/2 inches deep) to cook on a countertop and then be stored in a large cupboard. Included are six stainless-steel skewers for kabobs, bratwurst, spareribs, pork chops, and vegetables.
An electronic control panel provides visual confirmation that the heating elements ranged around the rotisserie's inside are working in sequence by displaying lights showing elements turning on and off, and a window allows visual monitoring. Other controls shut off the center heating element, provide "poultry" and "meat" buttons for proper temperatures, and offer high and low heat settings--the latter for slow cooking foods like pot roasts. A digital timer turns the rotisserie off at a selected time, and there's also a chart showing cooking times for various foods. A hook-handle is included for lifting food--impaled on a stainless-steel shaft that slides over the center heating element--out of the rotisserie. The hook also works with the skewers. With a nonstick interior, metal exterior, and dishwasher-safe metal drip tray and accessories, the 1420-watt rotisserie is easy to clean and maintain. --Fred Brack
