5.0 out of 5 stars This thing is amazing!, December 20, 2000
By
Richard Engelhardt (Boca Raton, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black & Decker S300 ScumBuster Cordless Wet Scrubber (Kitchen)
I'm a poor college kid and I hate cleaning. But I knew I had to do something when I saw a colony of bacteria forming it's own government in the corner of my shower. So I got the Scumbuster. I love this thing!

It wiped out that colony in a heartbeat. I did the whole tub in about 5 minutes. It used to take me 20 and my arm and back would hurt when I was done. The scumbuster even got rid of that nasty gunk between the tiles in the shower.

I then did hte toilet which was also disgusting and it cleaned it right up in about 3 minutes. I cleaned the sink and it now shines.

I also used my Scumbuster on the kitchen stove. I made Spaghetti a few weeks ago and the sauce splattered everywhere. I didn't clean it out of spite. But i used my scumbuster and it was no problem.

Basically, you can use this thing anywhere you'd use a sponge. And you can use any cleaner you want. I used Soft Scrub and Windex in the bathroom and kitchen.

The only bad part is that when you get it you'll probably all ready to clean - you know, you're in the zone! But you have to wait 6 hours for the battery to charge before you can do anything. After that it's all good.

Each scrubber is incredibly easy to put on and take off. In fact the whole thing is easy to use. I only read the directions once to see how long the battery had to charge. Other than that, it's all self-explanatory.

Also, I love the color of the Scumbuster!

5.0 out of 5 stars 21st century cleaning gizmo does the grunt work! Woo Hoo!, January 8, 2002
This review is from: Black & Decker S300 ScumBuster Cordless Wet Scrubber (Kitchen)
I first tried the scumbuster (SB) in my shower stall, a job I had put off too long. The heavier (blue) scrub pad didn't help that much, but then I tried the brushes, applied a little pressure, and held the device in the same place for a few seconds before moving on to new areas, and voila, I started seeing results like magic! It didn't do a perfect job, but I did see about 90% improvement. The scrub pads worked well on the glass shower door, however. Then I tried this gizmo on sinks, countertops, and pots, and also got very good results. The SB spins at 120 to 185 RPM, which is a lot faster than I normally clean over a sustained duration. I find the SB easy to hold, use, and change attachments (comes with a 4-inch coarse scrub pad, 4-inch mild scrub pad, a 3-inch area flat brush, and a smaller detail brush). It's submersible, and I like the aqua blue color. I also find it fun to use and time saving, so it's cured me of my cleaning procrastination problem! For best results, wet the surface, apply the cleaning agent, then allow it to sit for a few minutes to work on the grime before you go at it with the SB (or by hand).

After purchasing the S300, I found out there's an S400, which comes with 8 attachments, and an S500, which comes with 10 attachments. I called Black and Decker, and found out those are the exact same appliance, with the only difference being the number of accessories and a carrying caddy (which I haven't been able to find separately). Attachments are readily available on the internet (and in some stores), and include a dome bristle brush, wire bristle brush, lemon scented soap pads, automotive accessories, and barbeque scrubbing tools. The SB runs on a rechargeable battery pack that holds a charge for ½ hour and can be used in other Black and Decker appliances. (I think it's rather skimpy to have a battery pack that only runs ½ hour, so ½ star deduction.) If you want to run the appliance longer than 30 minutes, you can buy an additional silver colored charger, or a gold color charger with a 60% longer run time.

Bottom line: I wish I had purchased the S400 or the S500 with the carry caddy and more attachments. However, I'm happy with the S300 and feel like I have a whole staff of cleaning elves to help me with the grunt work. :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Why didn't I buy this sooner?, August 30, 2000

I kept looking at this product on your web site, but hesitated to buy it because of the other review that rates it the "scummiest handheld tool I own." Well, I'm so glad that I didn't listen and purchased it, anyway, because I LOVE it! In my pre-ScumBuster days, I avoided scrubbing the tub and tile at all costs. . .now I faithfully whip out the ScumBuster once a week. My grout has never looked so good. I highly recommend this to anyone that doesn't enjoy bathroom cleaning. It will change your mind completely.
