A solid starter model with convenient auto-off functionality, the Black & Decker Quickpress iron handles a wide range of fabric and operates dry or with steam. With its plastic body and aluminum soleplate, the iron may not be as hard-wearing as more expensive models, but it is lightweight and easy to manage. The heat control dial is mounted conveniently on the handle and includes integrated steam settings so you only have to make one selection. A spray button lets you spritz creases and stubborn wrinkles. The Quickpress has a simple opening for the water reservoir, and a view-window so you can track the tank level. As a helpful safety measure, the unit automatically shuts down after one hour of idleness. A simple rocker switch resets it. Black & Decker also included the Auto Clean Steam Valve to prevent build-up of mineral deposit and lint. One thing to note: the power cord on this iron does contain lead. Measuring 10-1/2 by 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inches, the Quickpress comes with a one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard
