Pros:
1. This device is extremely easy to install! There is no need of messy wiring, and it is ready to go in just minutes. 2. Very easy to use. Every thing is intuitive. The slider switches are easy to understand. Cons: 1. The first complaint is the noise. When it is operational, you can hear very clearly the sound of the motor to turn on the light. This can be annoying if you need very quiet space. 2. 3 AA batteries to operate. I think this is a little too many of them, and, worst, it is odd number. 3. The unit is a little large. It is literally a large "box". But, it is not too much of a problem. Overall, this is a very efficient product. I will recommend for rooms like kitchen, bath room, laundry room, garage, or living room (if the noise is not an issue). Bed room, it really depends.

I bought this item for my husband to put in his shop. He is a wonderful handy man, but when he is out in his "man cave" for hours on end, and is going in and out from one part of his shop to another, there was too much energy and money being wasted from leaving all the lights on! So, he installed this device and it works great!

I bought this item as part of "energy saving" plan. The kids are in the basement alot and leave one light on that we forget to go down and turn off. Sometimes we wake up in the AM and realize it was on all night!! I liked this one because you don't have to hardwire it in. You remove the screws to the wall plate, and put the back plate of this item over the plate and put the screws back in. the part you see in the picture pops right on.
it does its job, but has some issues for me. I have 4 kids under the age of 4. they like to pop off the plate (it is easily removed). the item takes 3 AA batteries. the more frequent it is used the quicker the batteries die (duh). lately they have only been lasting me a few days. I think it will just take some tweeking on my part in regards to how sensitive it is to motion and changing the time when it shuts off. not sure if my electric energy savings is justified in the amount of batteries I am buying though.

I bought two of these switches for my apartment. One for the bathroom and one for the laundry room. They work great and they DO work on lights that have multiple switches in the same area. They are very easy to install and requires 3 AA batteries that are not included. I will be buying these as gifts for some of my 'green' family members.

This is super easy to install, which I loved. I can move it from room to room easily as it just uses the existing faceplate screws and screws on top of it. It uses batteries instead of wires.
However, once a person walks into the room, it takes about 10-12 seconds to turn the light on, which is an eternity for a 4-year-old to stand in the dark when he comes to play in his room. It's pretty loud too. If you try to over-ride it by flipping the switch manually yourself, it flips it right back off and allows the process to follow through of it turning itself on (the 10- to 12-second delay), so the over-ride is worthless. For turning lights OFF though after a period of inactivity, it works great. You can set it in different intervals, whether that is 1 minute or up to 20 minutes. I have to keep it on 20 mins for my son because sometimes if he is laying in his room watching TV and doesn't really move for a few minutes, it will turn itself off if set on one of the shortest intervals. Then he freaks out, ha! At least there is no way for him to sit still for 20 mins at a time, so that interval works, but this means it also doesn't turn itself off until 20 mins after he leaves the room which is a huge waste. But it DOES turn it off, so a 2-minute interval should work great for most people. Like I said though, it's not the off that's the killer, it's the delay and loudness when it turns back on. This would be so much better if it turned itself on right away when someone walked into the room instead of the motor taking 10 seconds to go through the cycle, but if you are an adult, this might not bother you so much. For a kid's room, where this is most beneficial (and is the location I bought it for), they delay is just too long to leave them in the dark. We ended up turning the mechanism off and he finally got tall enough to just turn the light on and off himself. Overall, 3 stars because it does function and do what it is intended for, but there are some obvious flaws that need to be fixed before I can recommend it as a great solution for those with small children.

I've installed 4 of these autoswitches around the house and it's been great. The biggest drawback to the product is that the mechanism is very loud but it does its job and and requires very little technical skill to install. I plan to purchase a few more to outfit the rest of the more utilized areas of our house.

This simple to install unit is really useful. I thought it would be another useless item, but to the contrary, it installed easily and works fine.
