Nothing out there even compares.., March 5, 2005
This review is from: Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-Cup Digital Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
As another reviewer commented "this needs to be said"...how true for this coffee maker (ODC325B).
Before I comment on the quality and reliability of this excellent coffeemaker, it must be said "BLACK AND DECKER, WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU THINKING IN PULLING THIS OFF THE MARKET??????" To replace this with a problematic carafe unit which has not garnered anything better than a 1 star review is a marketing fiasco. You went from FIRST to WORST with an incredibly bad marketing decision. Wake up and sip your coffee.
Claiming the ODC325B as the best coffeemaker out there with the hundreds of competive and more expensive units stuffing the shelves of every outlet seems a stretch, but not for this reviewer. This is my fourth Spacemaker in twelve years....the other 3 units are in other houses- still working fine. I left them there to enhance my kitchens for the house sales. All of the buyers loved the Spacemaker coffeemakers.
Ease of installation, ease of use, great hot coffee, 2 hour auto-off safety, and long term reliability make this an outstanding coffeemaker. However, to find one is another issue entirely. I frequently search Amazon for refurbs and lucked out today with a buy. Many thanks Amazon, and thanks for the great warranty feature. A refurb ODC325 is still much better than the any of the new competition.....I would compare my 10 year old Spacemaker to the most expensive new Bunn out there, in a heartbeat.
In summary, just buy this ODC325B Spacemaker if you can. Then you will be just like the rest of us.....looking in the refurb ads for additional units as gifts and for summer homes.

Leaking in Leesburg, January 9, 2004
This review is from: Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-Cup Digital Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
I was a Black and Decker Spacemaker enthusiast, having purchased one in 1996. It worked fine, though I had trouble with the spring that controls the sneak-a-cup feature. The heating unit burned out 6 years later,so I purchased a new one. The valve on the reservoir began to leak late in 2003. I checked the price of a new reservoir ($18) and decided to go for a brand new machine. You guessed it- It leaked like a sieve as soon as I got it home. I got on-line with the folks at Applica, and was assured I would hear from someone "shortly". That was 12 days ago. Also, I got on-line with someone called PriceGrabber hotline who "Assigned a number" and promised to get back to me. Glad I wasn't holding my breath. No answer 12 days later. Today Jan 9 called Applica, talked to a real person, was told to return it to K-Mart. Are there any good under-the-counter coffeemakers out there, or am I doomed to push coffeemakers around my countertop again?? Thanks- MartyYawman@aol.com

LOOKS COOL, BUT........, October 24, 2002
This review is from: Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-Cup Digital Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
...DISAPPOINTED FAIRLY SOON........the pause and serve feature stopped working altogether because the little rubber stopper on the underside of the basket disappeared..coffee is hot only if left in the carafe for a few minutes..installation a pain...and the on/off button for brewing is behind the door;should have been a cutout for it!...if you slide it off too quickly, you will have to reset the clock!.....but like I said, it looks good!
