Nothing out there even compares..,
By
This review is from: Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-Cup Digital Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
As another reviewer commented "this needs to be said"...how true for this coffee maker (ODC325B).
Before I comment on the quality and reliability of this excellent coffeemaker, it must be said "BLACK AND DECKER, WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU THINKING IN PULLING THIS OFF THE MARKET??????" To replace this with a problematic carafe unit which has not garnered anything better than a 1 star review is a marketing fiasco. You went from FIRST to WORST with an incredibly bad marketing decision. Wake up and sip your coffee. Claiming the ODC325B as the best coffeemaker out there with the hundreds of competive and more expensive units stuffing the shelves of every outlet seems a stretch, but not for this reviewer. This is my fourth Spacemaker in twelve years....the other 3 units are in other houses- still working fine. I left them there to enhance my kitchens for the house sales. All of the buyers loved the Spacemaker coffeemakers. Ease of installation, ease of use, great hot coffee, 2 hour auto-off safety, and long term reliability make this an outstanding coffeemaker. However, to find one is another issue entirely. I frequently search Amazon for refurbs and lucked out today with a buy. Many thanks Amazon, and thanks for the great warranty feature. A refurb ODC325 is still much better than the any of the new competition.....I would compare my 10 year old Spacemaker to the most expensive new Bunn out there, in a heartbeat. In summary, just buy this ODC325B Spacemaker if you can. Then you will be just like the rest of us.....looking in the refurb ads for additional units as gifts and for summer homes.

Leaking in Leesburg,
By
This review is from: Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-Cup Digital Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
I was a Black and Decker Spacemaker enthusiast, having purchased one in 1996. It worked fine, though I had trouble with the spring that controls the sneak-a-cup feature. The heating unit burned out 6 years later,so I purchased a new one. The valve on the reservoir began to leak late in 2003. I checked the price of a new reservoir ($18) and decided to go for a brand new machine. You guessed it- It leaked like a sieve as soon as I got it home. I got on-line with the folks at Applica, and was assured I would hear from someone "shortly". That was 12 days ago. Also, I got on-line with someone called PriceGrabber hotline who "Assigned a number" and promised to get back to me. Glad I wasn't holding my breath. No answer 12 days later. Today Jan 9 called Applica, talked to a real person, was told to return it to K-Mart. Are there any good under-the-counter coffeemakers out there, or am I doomed to push coffeemakers around my countertop again?? Thanks- MartyYawman@aol.com

LOOKS COOL, BUT........,

...DISAPPOINTED FAIRLY SOON........the pause and serve feature stopped working altogether because the little rubber stopper on the underside of the basket disappeared..coffee is hot only if left in the carafe for a few minutes..installation a pain...and the on/off button for brewing is behind the door;should have been a cutout for it!...if you slide it off too quickly, you will have to reset the clock!.....but like I said, it looks good!

Great Coffee Maker!,

After reading other reviews, I hesitated to buy this machine. However, I realize that dissatisfied folks are more likely to take the time to write a review, so I took a chance... I LOVE IT. I installed it myself in no time at all with no problems. The coffee maker works wonderfully -- no drips, no leaks, no dribbling carafe! I love having coffee made for me when I get up in the morning, and I LOVE not having dust bunnies collect around my coffee maker! The controls are easy to understand and the two-hour shut off is a wonderful item too! Great item!!

Absolutely the best,
By A Customer

An excellent coffeemaker that delivers what it promises. I have had mine since 1994 and it is still brewing perfect coffee. It is so efficient that you can actually use a little less coffee and/or a little more water than the standard recommendation of 1/2 cup of ground coffee to the 10-cup mark on the water reservoir.Early use of the Sneak-A-Cup feature does yield a slightly stronger cup - but worth it if you are in a hurry. Our Black and Decker is also used more than once a day, every day, by the many HomeCare aides who help care for my mother. Their verdict, "Absolutely the best."

WELL, I had to respond after reading some of the reviews! This is a wonderful product, I have only bought two and I replaced one because I needed this white one not black any longer!! My first one was still working great! Easy to install, took me maybe 30 minutes & I love the timer so it can start before I get up in the morning and I can wake up to the smell & the cup of ready coffee!! Another plus is it turns off in two hours for us forgetful people!!!!!

Applica just doesn't care about quality,

This review is from: Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-Cup Digital Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
Had the ODC150 for about 2 years. Started leaking from reservoir. Was told I would have to buy a new reservoir to replace the rubber water seal/valve at a cost of $24, as it is not a replaceable item. Bulls**t!!!! It takes 5 minutes to replace it. I have emailed their customer service. If I don't get a suitable resolution, I will never buy any B&D products in the future!!

5yr old Spacemaker, need new filter basket-Can't sneak a cup,
By
This review is from: Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-Cup Digital Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
Love the under the counter B & D Spacemaker, but I dropped the filter basket, and now I can't sneak a cup with out the coffee continuing to drip.
I read a review about the leaking from the reservoir, Yep, that would be mine as well, for about a year now. Applica says they are no longer making any parts, so I guess that means never count on having an applicance for more than 5 years. Great business for the coffee maker indusry, bad consumer relations for those of us that love our coffeemakers and just need a new part. Any Ideas on where to find a replacement filter basket?

Fine product, HORRID installation,
By
This review is from: Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-Cup Digital Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
What a nightmare to install - I had the right tools and lots of experience under my belt.....but nothing could prepare me for the rotten instructions and the marginal, at best, template one is to use for an under the counter installation on a cabinet with an overhang. It took hours, and I do mean hours, to install this beast....a tiny shift in the template whilst drilling spelled disaster and the need for another monsterous hole to be drilled. Just when I thought all was corrected, the spacers weren't quite long enough....and so it went...along with my patience. I seriously considered tossing the entire thing in the trash....but I'm too stubborn, I confess. The machine works fine, no leaks, no problem brewing, programming works just fine, pause 'n serve works well too. The only bitter taste this appliance leaves is born from the installation nightmare....sigh.
