At this price, this toaster is a great deal. The temperature setting knob is a little flimsy, but it definitely gets the job done. I've had it for 3 months now and it is used daily by 5 people and it's still going strong!

I should say first of all, that the toaster itself works fine, and we haven't had any problems with it from a reliability standpoint. I give it a one star rating, however, because of one baffling aspect. If you ever toast Pop-Tarts (or some other form of thinly sliced bread), then this toaster is the worst toaster you can buy. The Pop-tarts have a tendency to slip down into the toaster, and it is very difficult to get them out, as the spring loaded bread holder pins it in. Thus, you have to turn the machine over, shake all of the crumbs out, and basically get the Pop tart out one small piece at a time, all while you are burning yourself. As others have noted also, it does not pop other toasted items up high enough to get them. You usually have to jiggle the handle to get your item to "jump" out, and catch it. Avoid this toaster!

It toasts, but the extremely short cord is annoying and it doesn't pop up enough so things like muffins are hard to get out.

Toaster lasted about 3 weeks, then stopped all of a sudden, did not keep the toast down anymore, just tossed it into the trash, it was junk, do not buy!

I was happy to get and use this toaster - a newer model than my previous one. The bagel and frozen function buttons were just great...I used them often, and I really liked the feature where you can lift the handle to raise the toast or items high enough to pick them up without burning your fingers! However, after regular use for 7 months or so, the function buttons began to "act up"! After using the bagel function, the next time I tried to toast bread, it only toasted on one side! - Like the function did not release after that session! It also happened with the frozen function button, over-toasting the next item I put into the toaster. I must say, however, that a call to the manufacturer resulted in a new/replacement being sent to me. I only had to pay shipping/handling costs, as the toaster was still under warranty! I loved the toaster while it worked and hope the new one will work correctly for a longer period of time. Since the company stood by its product and its warranty, I must give it 5 stars. My advice to everyone is to always keep the instuction booklet for an appliance, along with your receipt, and call the company if you encounter problems of any kind!

Hi all. Love my new toaster, very happy with the purchase. For those considering buying, things to think about:

In order to reach the controls, you have to have the toaster slots pointing toward you, not sideways like on many toasters. This means that it will take slightly more front-to-back counter space.

I do find it is a bit slow to toast, but comes out evenly and the bagel setting (only toasts one side, so the cut side of the bagel is toasted) is a great extra feature.

I just got this toaster. I previously had a similar model for years. I like the black and decker name for good products. this one did not live up to the reputation. I am returning it. I tried putting 2 slices of frozen bread in it. It came out 1/2 toasted and 1/2 just white bread.
