I had planned to purchase a fancy, smancy toaster when my old one broke, but after reading reviews from Amazon customers, I realized that most of them ranked lower than less expensive toasters. I've never owned anything by Black and Decker that didn't drill holes or sand wood, but since I've always been happy with those products, I decided to try out their toaster. I'm glad I did!

I like the simple design, even if it is rather old fashioned. It has a nice, clean appearance, and doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out, which is a plus for me. ;-)

I've only toasted store-bought bread so far, but the slots definitely seem wide enough to accommodate home made bread and bagels.

If your bread is short and doesn't pop up high enough to easily lift out, you can boost it up by lifting the same lever you used to lower the bread into the toaster. No more trying to reach the toast with tongs or a fork. Nice!

The toast browns on both sides, but not exactly evenly, which is I why I'm giving four stars rather than five.

I have no reservations about recommending this dandy little appliance to anyone who simply wants to toast bread or bagels in the mornings!

I have had several toasters over the past few years that have all been terrible, however this one was the worst. It takes forever to toast, barely turns brown on the higher settings, AND is almost impossible to get the bread or poptarts out of the toaster. My kids have burned themselves several times.

Also, I also forgot that a lot of the time, the handle won't even stay down. You have to hold it down mannually. Not much fun when I'm trying to get 4 kids fed their breakfast and out the door to school.

Works just fine. I especially like the bagel feature. It really does brown the inside of the bagel and just warms the outside.

I bought this toaster for my nearly blind and very frail, elderly mother. It is very easy for her to use, and does its job. Thanks!

Toaster works fine and is attractive. But, I'm rather disappointed that the toast doesn't pop-up high enough when done so that it is necessary to use tongs to retrieve the toast.

The toaster is everything it was represented to be: high quality, convenient features and ease of operation! The price was right! The quick service, the wide range of products available, and ease of shopping online made our choice of not only this particular product right, but the choice of Amazon.com right as well. I would highly recommend this toaster to anyone in the market for a very good product at a great price, purchased at an extremely well-run internet business. I've had cheap toasters and some more expensive toasters. I've even returned a Delonghi or two in the past. This makes great toast, just how I like it every time. No hassles. The toast comes up pretty silent though (even when you're right next to it). So, be sure to watch it or you might miss it.

Toast-It-All Plus

Several people in our family have gotten burnt using the toaster, it's very dangerous.
The toast will not come out brown but your hand will.
I tried calling Black and Decker and they will not return my phone calls at customer service.
When searching the Internet on this product you get tons of hits on people being injured.
Basically the top of the toaster gets red hot, and the bread barley clears the top, thus the problem. You have to take it out with a knife or a fork and that's not safe either.

The top of the toaster gets very hot. You may burn yourself each time you try to get your bread out of the toaster.
The lift on the lever is too short of a distance to get your bread out. You need to stick your fingers in to get your bread. And, burn your hands while doing this. Take caution
The heat dial is only marked with a bump - same metal. Difficult to see the setting. I colored the dot red with nail polish.

Looks nice, makes good toast, but the pieces don't come very far out of the top. The middle part of the top gets HOT HOT HOT, so you singe your fingers trying to grab your toast, poptart, bagel, whatever. Small things, like specialty breads, are the worst. I'm looking to replace this one because I can't stand burning my fingers anymore.
