i probably rate in the top 10 of heavy duty coffee drinkers,so i think i'm qualified to judge a coffee maker's performance.i've been through dozens of them in years past, now my search is over!this coffee maker sets up fast and brews fast(thats very important to us coffee addicts). timers are nice though i seldom ever use them. the best feature is the carafe's ability to keep coffee hot and fresh for at least 2-3 hours. you can also take your coffee with you to the pool, patio or anywhere else that electric service may not be available. 5 stars ++!!

I loved this product for the first two months. Then while a friend cleaned it, they cracked the thermal lining. You can't buy a replacement in a store. It took FOUR MONTHS for the company to send a new one. FOUR MONTHS. Last week the "on" light would go on, but it did not brew. It has effectively died. What a total disappointment.

I had this coffee maker for about a year and loved it at first! It kept the coffee hot and was convenient. After about a month or so I kept smelling a hint of a moldy smell and couldn't figure out what it was from. Dark things started showing up in my coffee and I dismissed it as coffee grounds. When I had it for about 10 months my father actually realized the smell was coming from the lid and we broke the lid open -inside the lid was literally covered in slimey mold. It was gross! I don't recommend this coffee maker at all. The lid is made so the coffee goes through the center - but the lid isn't sealed properly.

A couple of friends and family had difficulty with getting the lid on - one flooded my countertop because it wasn't set up properly. It ended up being not very user friendly.

On the other hand - I do recommend a thermal carafe for people that drink coffee over the course of hours and those with little kids (the carafe stays cool and there is no burner to burn little fingers).

My recommendation is Mr. Coffee's thermal carafe coffee maker.

Coffee is not hot at brewing and becomes luke warm almost instantly. The lid is very hard to twist off after brewing. Way over priced just to have warm coffee.

Let me first say that I have had the B@D Thermal Carafe for a long while.

First: Don't soak the lid...clean the lid carefully but don't submerge. Problem with water in lid solved.

Second: Don't submerge the carafe. You won't have water seeping out of the seam because no water will get in. Put water into the carafe (not COLD if carafe is HOT, I will get to that later). Wash the inside with a long sponge on handle, sparkling clean every time.

Third: Don't ever try to put COLD water into even a WARM carafe, instant explosion (I know). Don't try to mix your coffee in the carafe, they were not made for it.

Lastly: This coffee maker will not spill if you fully tighten the lid and place it carefully into the housing. If you violate the "careful" and the "tighten" part all bets are off. I think this makes great coffee as long as you start with good filtered water and of course good coffee. I have had to replace the Carafe I ordered one they sent me two (took many weeks). I love it to death (except for the small part about the failing on/off switch) Anyways, I like it and will buy another but will skip the timer part and save big $$$ on a lesser model of the same brand. Hope you have good luck.

This item not only looks good, it works good, keeps coffee hot, and there is no hot plate to deal with or get corroded. Thermos is solidly built, and cleanup is easy without a hot plate. Operation of the timer is two button simple, sets easy. A great buy.

I have had dozens of coffee pots..this is by far the best. Fast, excellent flavor and it stays piping hot for at least two hours..never lasts longer then that so I do not know how much longer it would stay hot.

I highly recommend this coffeemaker. It makes great coffee. It's good down to the last drop, and you don't have to worry about leaving the coffeemaker on -- it automatically turns itself off after it's done brewing (which is a great safety feature). ALSO -- No rubber taste as stated in the other review. Maybe that guy got a defective coffeemaker.

Everything is a winner except for the markings on the glass tube to let you know how many cups you have. Difficult to read. The whole aparatus is quite high-make sure you have room under your counter. Am sure if the glass in the carafe breaks=you would need to buy the whole thing cheaper.

This coffee maker leaked all over my counter almost every other time I used it. I investigated the problem and tried positioning it differently, screwing the top on more or less, and it still leaked. If the top is left unscrewed almost all the way, the plungers are depressed far enough for the coffee to go in, but then you can't get the carafe out. What a pain.
