Awful, awful product!! Purchased in October, 2010. From the date of purchase, this toaster never worked quite right. I should have returned it immediately!

To get lightly toasted bread, I have to turn the timer dial clockwise then turn it counterclockwise to less than 1/4" of the off position. It's almost impossible to do this consistently, especially since the dial doesn't even have a line that points to the light/dark picture of the toast. It toasts unevenly every time. The top of the bread will be toasted while the bottom is not. If you want the whole slice of bread toasted (top and bottom), one side will be burned. Get used to only one side being toasted.

Then, 7 months after purchase, the unit completely and dangerously malfunctioned. While attempting to bake an item, the unit 'snapped, crackled, and popped' and the glass door shattered into the unit itself and onto the countertop. This was not after 30 minutes of bake time - no, this happened right after turning it on. Thankfully, no fire or personal injury resulted.

Dealing with Black & Decker's third party Customer Service/Warranty Replacement firm, Applica, was just as bad as the product itself. The 800 # is supposedly available 8:30am-8:00pm ET. I called at 4:30pm CT and they were 'closed'. Called the next day during business hours and was on hold waiting 20 minutes for an agent to answer. You cannot return the product for a refund. You must cut off the power cord 2" away from the plug, send them the plug (w/2" of power cord), plus your receipt, a transaction #, all your personal information, AND A CHECK FOR $7.50, and in 2-4 weeks after receiving (cashing?) your check, they'll send you a replacement toaster. But, I don't want another B&D toaster oven product, and I don't want to PAY for a replacement either.

I may just go ahead and try to return the unit to the place of purchase and see if they'll refund my money so I can buy a toaster from a different manufacturer.

What a nightmare!

Do NOT get this product. Similar to other reviews, the glass door EXPLODED as we were trying to make toast. I knew it was a cruddy toaster oven to begin with, but the fact it exploded, sending chards of glass all over the kitchen is NOT okay. We've only had this toaster oven for about 2 weeks, used less than 10 times. Thank god no one in my family was standing near to the toaster when this happened. Someone could have been seriously injured or lost an eye.

We bought this toaster 3 DAYS ago. I put a waffle in the toaster and walked away to attend to one of my children. I heard a 'weird' noise from my kitchen, and when I returned I noticed that the glass door of my toaster had shattered. Pieces were scattered on my counter and the handle of the door was sitting inside the toaster. I called the company, and after waiting forever (!) the person gave me the line of "oh, I do not understand why this would happen. Just return it to the place of purchase." I looked on the internet, and this isn't a one time occurance for Black and Decker. I'd buy a different brand!! I'll see if I can return this item, for something completely different, but we'll see what happens. I think Black and Decker have lost my business! I'm completely disapointed!!

this oven is very convenient for a small size family like mine, or cooking for little kids. I use it a lot after i got it and love it very much.
The only thing i need to mention is that the cooking temperature should be a little lower and the time should be longer at the same time to get perfect dishes!
Oh, it's not big enough for 12 inches pizza!

I'm not sure how this works because there was no instruction book that came with this oven. I thought that the crumb tray came out completely to clean, but it doesn't. I'll have to play with it.
