I spent a couple days researching toaster ovens before finally deciding on this one, which seemed to have everything I was looking for while also being about $40 lower than my maximum price point. I've had the unit for a couple months now and so far I am very impressed. It heats up relatively quickly and has handled everything we've put in there with ease, from baking cornbread to toasting bagels to broiling catfish. I find the oven's size to be pretty perfect - it's big enough to hold just about anything I'd want to put in there, including most of my baking dishes, but not so big that it looks ridiculous or takes up too much room on the counter.

The construction seems very sturdy and while the sides and top do heat up a bit (which the instruction manual warns about) it's not nearly as bad as I was expecting based on some of the reviews on here, nor have I ever found the handle to be hot at all. As long as you make sure there's a couple inches of clearance around it I don't think the heat should be an issue during normal use. Now obviously if you're planning to leave it on for hours at a time then it will likely heat up more, but what would you expect from a $60 toaster? It's obviously not a full replacement for a traditional oven, nor does it claim to be.

Also, I wanted to clarify that this toaster oven most certainly DOES turn off on its own if you turn the knob past 20 minutes before setting it to the desired time. It is kind of a silly quirk but given that the instructions are printed not only in the owner's manual but also on the unit itself next to the timer, people really only have themselves to blame if they don't follow it.

All in all, I've found this product to be more than a match for my small-scale toasting and baking needs and I am very happy with my purchase. It's great to be able to make food without having to turn on my big energy-hogging oven, especially during the summer. The one thing I wish was different is that the timer knob is only marked every 10 minutes - it would be nice if it at least had 5-minute marks.

Let me start with I typically hate toaster ovens. THey are either huge or crappy and small. This one fits perfect. We have cornered and I don't feel I am losing a ton of countertop space. I am super picky too! It cooks great too. I would give it 5 stars if you didn't have to do this weird rigamaroo thing with the timer and set all three knobs to toast, etc...BUT that's a small price to pay for something that actually works. The other reason we have it cornered is b/c it has a rounded back side. This is for pizza's. It truly fits a small round pizza for 2!!! I have cooked everything in this oven lately....porks, 2 hours roasts, toast, you name it! I am happy we bought this!!

Convection works better than one without it. I have used toaster ovens for many years. This one is excellent in every way. Cooks evenly and crispy. Great product for the money especially now that they reduced the price ten dollars since I bought it. I've had it for about 45 days. The timer knob is a bit stiff when turning counterclockwise but is not a problem as some have stated. Could not be any happier. Highly recommend it!

I've gone through 3 toaster ovens in the last 7 years, which is irritating to say the least since my parents have only had to replace 1 toaster oven in 20 years. My last purchase was a Sanyo convection toaster oven which only lasted 2 years before the top heating element burned out completely. The first thing I noticed when I opened this Black & Decker product was that it has 4 heating elements instead of 2, which is already better than my previous purchase that cost me more. This product seems to be working well so far, I've had it a little over a month. The 3 knobs are kind of silly to me, which warranted losing 1 star (if I had a choice this product would get 4.5 stars). One knob is for the function, one is for the temp (but also lists the function) and one is for the timer-which is also the knob that turns it on...seems to me they could have consolidated something there. Watch your toast. The toast timer can go up to 8 minutes, but there's not a lot of breathing room from 0 minutes to 8, so you could easily get charred bread if you don't watch it. 4 slices do seem to come out evenly toasted, which is nice...I hate having to grab hot toast out because once side seems to brown quicker that the other. Another nice feature is the rounded back for small frozen pizzas to fit. I would definitely recommend one of these to a friend.

I bought this oven a few years back for my son and his wife and now I have one! I must say I am very pleased with this counter top oven! I am baking/broiling and toasting a lot more since I no longer have to heat up the big oven or smoosh a bagel into my other toaster. If you are like me and home cooking falls to something fast and easy and sometimes unhealthy over the summer months, not to mention if there's only one or two people in the household, this will help you make those home made things that are so much better for you. I've never used a convection oven before so that aspect is taking me some time to get used to as convection cooking is different than a regular oven, but I'm coming to really love it. Also, it does get hot to the touch so you still will have some heat disbursing into the kitchen, but not as much as if you used the oven on the stove. All in all I really like this product and thanks to Amazon for providing these kinds of products!

I love Black & Decker products so I was looking forward to using my new toaster oven when this arrived. I immediately unpacked it and read the manual very carefully. Since new electrical products sometimes smell bad when first used, I opened my window and made a slice of toast.

The toast setting is very difficult to see and set the settings. First you have to turn the dial past 20 minutes then back to a small space for light to dark toast. This I did and watched as the toast browned too much. Also the bottom of the toast was weird looking. I did not expect good results with my first try so I threw away that bread and put in two more slices after waiting 15 minutes----yes, you cannot toast again without waiting for the oven to cool down. So I turned the dial past 20 minutes and tried to turn it back to light toast and the dial spun to "always on". The dial had broken and the toaster oven would not turn off. It had to be unplugged. Broken product.

Now to me, an "always on" setting is dangerous and could burn down a kitchen if not watched really carefully. I don't need a product like this in my kitchen. What if the children tried to make toast? Bad design idea.

Yes, Amazon took it back but I will not buy another oven like this.

I really like this toaster oven. I use it often, to bake fish,chicken and beef.It also does a nice job toasting bagels and bread and heating up left-overs. The only bad thing about the oven is that the outside and top of the oven get super hot.

I love this toaster oven. I don't think the knobs are hard to turn and opens very easy...I am so worried about how things look and that they don't look cheap and this doesn't at all. Very nice toaster and great size. And, it fits a small pizza in it with the rounded back that it has. That feature is really cool. It was packaged really well and here when promised.

The Black & Decker Countertop Convection Oven/Toaster/Broiler is making my life easier. As a senior citizen living alone it makes more sense to use this than a full size oven or broiler. It takes a little longer to toast than a normal toaster but produces good results. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars due to it's price. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase.

Good for the price but...It gets really hot on the outside including the handle. also you have no way of knowing the temperature or when it has preheated. NONE OF THIS WAS SPECIFIED IN THE ITEM DESCRIPTION.
