I picked up one of these the other day and was pleasantly surprised. I was a little concerned the 2.8 amp motor would not be enough, but I couldn't pass up the great price. Turns out the 2.8 amp motor works great for what I need it for, which is just trimming the small bushes around the house. As long as your not trying to trim things bigger than 3/8" (like the manual states) it cuts through like butter. Great tool!

I bought this so that I, not my husband could do some pruning of shrubs, and it is so easy to use. It's very light and manageable. Definitely recommend, especially if a woman is doing the work.

This product replaced a 30 year old hedge trimmer that was well worn.The Black and Decker is very light and easy to handle. It trims well up to the advertised 3/4" diameter branch. Originally I was looking at a product with a longer blade but this one is just fine for my purposes and very manageable. I would recommend it to anyone with an average yard needing seasonal pruning/trimming of shrubs/bushes.

I have some small hedges in the front of my house that need to be trimmed about once a month. This Black & Decker works just fine for for them but I would not recommend it for thick hedges or any lawn job that would require a great deal of time to finish. The price is great and it does do the job. If I could purchase again, I would go for a bigger blade. Go one size up if you can.

I have a considerable amount of shrubs and bushes here and already had one Black & Decker Electric Trimmer but it has a long cutter. I wanted one more versatile and easier to use on medium to smaller shrubs, an additional trimmer, and could not be happier. This is VERY lightweight but powerful, easy to use and turn. Highly recommend this one, big-time.

I've been trimming my hedges for months now with this trimmer and it works quite well. It's light and easy to maneuver and has enough power to trim pretty precisely. Overall, I'm quite happy with the purchase.

This hedge trimmer is lightweight and convenient to use. It trims branches up to approximately 1/2 inch in diameter. It is great for small hedges around the house. If you want to trim larger hedges then I would suggest buying a larger hedge trimmer.

This trimmer needs to be plugged into an extension cord. Make sure you have an outlet handy if you plan on using this hedge trimmer. I only have three small hedges in front of my house, therefore, this hedge trimmer is perfect for what I want to do.

I purchased this to use in trimming small and medium shrubs; having never used one before, I was a little nervous that it might be too much for me and I'd end up overtrimming, or not strong enough for some of the shrubs I needed to work on, but it worked perfectly on everything and was easy to handle. Good safety features too that made me feel OK about using it while standing on a ladder. Trims evenly and cleanly and was really easy to just cut what I wanted to without accidentally getting "extra" - very pleased!

This is the third Black and Decker hedge trimmer I have owned. All have worked well and lasted long. My only disappointment in this Model TR017 is the knob handle. The others have had bail handles and are much easier to hold, control and operate safely. I will keep this new one, but will use it only for trimming no higher than waist to shoulder height and requiring no reaching, which is sometimes hard to do on a hedge.

I bought one of these thinking it would be ideal due to its light weight and size to do some of the lightweight work on my shrubs. It does not work! I actually bought two of them so I can say definitively that it was not a faulty item. The fact is that the distance between the cutting blades is very small. You can compare it to the 24 inch hedgehog which works quite well and you will see for yourself that simply having the ability to easily cut shrubs is work and effort with this model to simply get the branches and sprigs into the blades. The fact also is that this cannot even cut the small stuff. I tried it on star jasmine in my front yard and also on Tacameria in my backyard and it did an equally poor job. The fact is that if you need to shape and cut shrubs then the hedgehog which is larger and a bit heavier is about 100% better. You get what you pay for and although I bought this to compliment my other hedgehog...now the slightly heavier weight and size of my hedgehog does not bother me at all because I realize just how much better the hedgehog actually is and how much better it performs. You dont have to believe me....but if you compare the specs on the distance between the cutting blades you will understand that there has to be adequate distance between the blades to make passes and sweeps easy and possible when you are trimming even the thinnest shrubs.
