The worst appliance engineering ever.,
By Keith McCabe (Auburn, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Black & Decker TRO360 Toast-R-Oven (Kitchen)
The door to this toaster is connected with two wires that cut power off if you open the door to the toaster. Problem is the door won't remained closed because of the (...) way the wires are connected. One of the wires is slowly scraping a gouge out of the corner of the glass door. I am going to take a baseball bat to this as soon as I find time to buy a new toaster.

junk, junk, junk,

From the outset this toaster oven would soemtimes buzz or vibrate when toasting -- it sounded like a piece of metal was loose somewhere. I was afraid to leave this alone in the kitchen for fear that it would light something else on fire. Now, after less than 6 months of light use (ie mostly toasting, reheating things -- no baking or cooking) the broiler switch has broken off in the on position, which means the oven is constantly on unless unplugged. We are still using this for toast, but as soon as I buy a new one this one is in the garbage. Don't buy this oven!

Junk, and warranty not honored by Black & Decker!,

When I bought this toaster oven, I filled out that little card for the warranty. It was my first toaster oven, and I had good memories of the one my mother had for 15 years when I was a kid.
This oven worked fine for about 8 months, then the broiler knob broke off. I am the only person who used it, and I treated it gently at all times. I thought I had perhaps bought a defective unit. I found the users manual and called customer service, only to be told that the warranty was for one year from the date of MANUFACTURE, not the date of purchase. Evidently they use a code stamped on the power cord to determine when it was made....who cares if it sat on a store shelf for 2 years before you bought it! I argued with the woman for some time about how it should last longer than 8 months, but she wouldn't agree to a replacement, repair or refund. I finally asked to speak to a manager and was told they were all "in a meeting." I left my phone number for a return call, which of course never came. I am done buying anything from Black & Decker - everything from my cordless vaccuum to this toaster oven has been a piece of junk and my loyalty to this company is gone... I recently purchased a Kenmore toaster oven from Sears, which is bigger, sturdier, has more even heating, and cost the same as the defective B&D product.

Dies Right After Warranty Expires,
By EntreEspadayHospital (Static) - See all my reviews

Day after my warranty expires, my toaster's switch ceases to function. I must now toast bread using the broiler function. I see from the other reviews this has happened to other customers. Obviously a major design flaw. My advice: spend a bit more and get a more reliable machine.

Black and Decker Quality Going Downhill,
By
This review is from: Black & Decker TRO360 Toast-R-Oven (Kitchen)
The toast function stopped working after six weeks with this unit. The toast button refuses to stay down. The Black and Decker brand used to be dependable for quality, but no more. My parents have one of these, and their toaster makes funny buzzing and dinging noises while toasting, but at least theirs works so far. I'm never buying another Black and Decker product again.

you get what you pay for,

we've had this toaster oven for a grand total of 2 years and it's already broken. It no longer heats up and is headed for the junk pile. On the back of the oven the cord is frayed where it is connected to the oven. The oven is moved only for cleaning so how can the cord become frayed so quickly? Poor quality is the only reason I can think of. I won't buy this brand again.

Once Burned, Twice Shy,
By A Customer
This review is from: Black & Decker TRO360 Toast-R-Oven (Kitchen)
When will I learn to read these reviews BEFORE I buy a product instead of AFTER the trouble starts. I bought this toaster oven four months ago. It has never toasted properly; always needs some adjustment to get it right. About a month ago the toaster toggle button began to give me problems. I used it again this morning for the last time. I'm glad I read these reviews before heading out to buy a new one. I have really liked B&D appliances but will not buy any more. Even though mine is still within the warranty period, the price I would have to pay to get the warranty honored is more than this toaster is worth. I still like the B&D steam/dry iron I have but my next one will be a T-Fal.

Burned!,

I was the one who got burned when I purchased this piece of trash. From the second week onward, this toaster failed to work properly. The return policy was just too much trouble with which to contend - something Black & Decker counts on, I'm sure. I guess B&D is true to its name: Bondage and Discipline; however, you'll be the one who takes a beating.DO NOT BUY THIS TOASTER!

lousey toaster oven,

I have bought three of these ovens in the last six months and all have become defective. First one lasted 3 months-had no replacement guarantee so I had to throw it away. Second lasted 21 days. Third one and a half hours. All of them became defective with the toaster button not staying down to make toast. The last one actually sent out sparks when I put the toaster button down. Never buy at Best Buy as they care nothing for customers and any satisfacation. I hope you do. I had an old toaster of yours and it lasted 15 years. |
